Disconnected again at the time of this post. Now I’m banned in OW, lovely.
OK I found a solution for anyone wondering. If you use a VPN to route around the geolocation of the server located at 137.221.111.33 (New Jersey) you can avoid the lag and disconnects.
No it’s not unrelated because the issue is not exclusive to this ISP.
Writing again - its effecting anyone that routes through the server at 137.221.111.33. (New Jersey servers). If this IP shows up in your WinMTR… you will be getting disconnections.
I feel like Blizzard is just passing the buck and wiping their hands of this issue, blaming Bell. It would help if they also put pressure and helped resolved this issue. The odd thing is, is THEIR services are the only thing being affected on my end. My internet doesn’t drop, Netflix runs fine, everything is peachy, except for WoW!
it’s 10000000% blizzard issue. 1 of their servers is being DDoSed i think.
Discord drops at the same time if you’re on aliant which takes a similar path.
I think there are two things happening. Blizzard might be having an unrelated issue, but the one in this thread is very clearly an issue with Bell Aliant.
8:55 am Atlantic Time, down again.
It’s not just hardcore servers, also what a dumb character name, grow up
So even though you’re not on aliant, your connection is dropping when passing through a node on aliant’s network, which you’ve confirmed via trace? That seems kind of weird!
I don’t doubt that you’re having connection issues. I do doubt that you’re having this connection issue, especially since my friends on Eastlink have not been having problems.
My battlenet and work VPN both went out at this time. I called Bell yesterday and they didn’t do anything other than brick my internet for the afternoon.
In the past it has reconnected me to BNET within a minute or so, this time, its been down for now 15 minutes! Essentially playing any BNET game atm is a no go, forget about HC unless you want to insta delete your character. This is wild.
Do you know where your VPN is hosted? I’ve been doing a lot of tinkering with this, and it seems like there is a routing issue between Aliant and anything hosted in or around Chicago. I’ve found some other games that are hosted there and they drop too.
Discord is also hosted in Chicago, and it also drops at the same time as WoW most of the time.
Just got confirmation from someone at Bell Aliant that the issue is being escalated to their network operations and is being looked into. Fingers crossed.
Also if you’re in this thread and your ISP is not Bell Aliant and you’re having issues, make a new thread. There does seem to be a different general issue with Classic Hardcore affecting more people, but this issue is very specific to Bell Aliant, and is affecting more than just Blizzard services.
There are dozens of other threads on here and the EU forums already.
Blizzard have only acknowledged this one because they have a scapegoat.
Sorry, but Blizzard does not have any responsibility for a .aliant node that is bricking any connections between Bell Aliant and anything hosted in or around Chicago. It’s also disconnecting Discord, unless you want to tell me that’s Blizzards fault too.
It is likely that there are other issues going on, but the one in this thread is VERY specific.
People please keep this thread to Bell Aliant customers only, I have multiple friends using Eastlink having no DC issues where people with Bell Aliant will drop at identical times.
Been having the exact same issues for past couple weeks. Be fine for a bit, then out of nowhere Bnet tries reconnecting and i DC. No loss of internet at all on any other device.
Ive decided to stop playing HC till this gets resolved as i have lost at least 1 character to it and dont really want to start losing more
Funny enough my ISP is Bell aliant as well, so curious if it isnt them
Just an update from my experience as a Bell Aliant customer. The issue seems to be unrelated to Blizzard and more likely a problem with one of the routers along the way from Atlantic Canada. Last night, I experienced another disconnect from World of Warcraft while I was also streaming a hockey game on sportsnet.ca. Both disconnected at the same time so to me, it’s clearly not a Blizzard problem, but an ISP issue.
To see people requesting compensation from Blizzard is a bit ridiculous.
Agreed, at this point this thread is just evidence for us to use when contacting Bell Aliant support about this. The fella that posted a chatgpt letter to blizzard requesting compensation or this Crackpype fella that someshow changed ISP’s within 10 hours need to leave the thread be…
