Can you stop breaking WOW on linux

I had to reinstall everything to get WOW classic to work on linux AGAIN. Can you stop breaking stuff with every update please.

Now I have to fix all my addons, geez.

You will never launch on consoles with this behavior.

meanwhile everything is smooth as butter on MacOS :expressionless:

The game runs better on Linux than windows bro.

They just keep breaking the updater and installer.

Linux is the future of gaming. Most games now work better on Linux.

Probably because Steam has SteamOS and it’s linux based. Weird coincidence huh.

I will murder every sea turtle I see if I’m forced to use linux OS

smooth as butter on PC also.

What did you have to install, and why? I’m running Arch Linux, and haven’t had any issues recently.

Are you running it on Lutris or through Steam or just through wine CLI?

You’re never forced to use Free Open Source Software… that’s kind of the point.

It just stopped working and battlenet would hang. It’s a common issue lately on many repos. Reinstalling in Lutris and bottles fixed it.

I had to change proton version also. I tried just changing proton first but wouldn’t work.

I got it working in Lutris and bottles now.

The devs did something to break it. I hadn’t touched it and it just stopped working. My other games work fine.

100% blizzards screw up not me.

Plus I don’t need your help, I’m probably 10x more knowledgeable than you on this. I didn’t ask for help.

It’s over your head anyway, thanks.

You have a reading comprehension issue. Battlenet wouldn’t start. I never said the game wasn’t smoothe.

It’s actually BETTER than windows because I have FSR in Linux and the game just runs better in Linux like most games now.

I also have a better CPU than you cause I have a 9950x3d.

Once I fixed the install that the devs broke it works fine. You can run WOW on a toaster not sure why you are trying to gloat.

I hope you enjoy the free spyware with Windows though bro.

The entire point was me giving feedback they keep breaking the installer and updater on Linux and they can’t move to consoles (which they are trying to do) if they can’t stop these issues from happening.

I wasn’t asking for anyone’s help because people on this forum probably can’t install a light bulb without chat GPT. This would be the last place I ask for help.

Oh yeah, I’m using the Proton Hotfix, which as the name suggest, might not be the most stable.

That’s cool.

That’s an interesting assumption. I suppose it’s reasonable though. They maybe updated something on the client to use something in Direct-X that wasn’t mapped properly for whatever proton version you were using.

OK. That totally sounds like something that someone who actually is knowledgeable would say.

You are wrong. The proton hotfix doesn’t work. Stay out of stuff no one asked you to help with.

Thanks.

It’s a battlenet bug. I can run the game with various protons. The proton updating fixing it isn’t the reason it didn’t work. It’s just a coincidence. For example, I’m running with proton 9 right now just fine.

Like I said, I know more than you thanks.

Something is getting corrupted in the file system when they update or broken in the file system.

That’s fantastic! Good for you. I hope you genuinely do.

Obviously since I fixed it and have 2 versions running simultaneously on Linux.

The Lutris fix was not intuitive at all and if you try to install right now via Lutris script on some distros it just won’t work. There is a weird workaround though.

They’re fried weekly bud, its not unique to Linux, it’s just blizzard tweaking the API and it will keep changing.

Word in the street is many addons as related to automation and combat are doomed, so you may want to learn to play without the training wheels.

So you are saying I should play retail with the 1 button rotation then.

It has its place. Its great for “headless” servers to putty into.

Issue op and other hit is blizzard and others aren’t rushing to see what all the update libs out there are for linux. They know mac and windows schedules. Blizzard like damn near every windows IT pro out there hates 1 tuesday a month. What fun awaits us this patch Tuesday lol.

Since that asks question 1. which linux? Steam deck fixes that. Unless you break into the underlying layer…it just works. its the one they maintain.

Unlike linux for the masses. See I used cent OS for stuff. That will now start flavor and family wars.

Good stuff for headless servers. after you learn to google commands explicitly for cent os/rh. Since lucky you, you found a command Ubuntu or mint, etc said yeah…we could be llke RH. But nah, we want to be special.

Strawman much?
