I’d like to request that blizzard removes the cost of horrific visions. On the condition that you do not get momentos or the chance to get credit for an upgrade quest if you don’t pay the cost to enter.
Why you might ask? So that people can help their friends without feeling like they are screwing themselves over.
Maybe one day in the far flung future, this won’t be a major issue, but it’s kind of an issue now.
You can’t really group up in visions unless everyone has the same goal, you also cannot really drag a low level friend through harder vision objectives, because they won’t have the insanity resistance / perks unlocked to help them survive in the harder areas, thus they just weigh you down.
So, please give people the ability to join groups, and participate in Horrific visions to help their friends whom might be doing lower horrific vision levels than them.
I feel like if there’s going to be reward, everyone in there has to pay the price of admission.
on the one hand, if you have people able to do carries / participate without paying the vessel, you could end up with carries being sold which invalidates the difficulty and accomplishment a little bit… on the other hand. Who cares? I mean, it’s probably good for the economy to have another gold sink, and if that means folks are buying tokens for the runs, etc, oh well?
I’m changing my mind. I think it’s fine if anyone ‘in’ the vision that paid the vessel gets to get rewards regardless of if everyone didn’t.
I personally feel like the vessel should be the loot key, not the entrance key because I wanna run visions for fun. I really like running them. I’ve solo’d up to my rank 7 so far and I’m excited to keep pushing myself solo, but I only get so many chances a week which makes me sad. Even if I wasn’t getting a reward, I’d be running them in my free time to practice and try to improve my run for when I do use a vessel.
Pretty much once you get behind your friends, if you were already struggling and needed to group in the first place you might as well just plain give up since you’d eat their vessals just to help you get back in the groove
I like the concept but you do realize the chance of making any wide sweeping changes like this is near impossible when the dev effort is now on Shadowlands…
They have limited staff and resources for “current” content, and instead are already focusing on future content. My bet is that they are already in plans for the expansion AFTER shadowlands.
And before you say “just remove the cost”. It’s not that simple, they would have to test that change on the PTR, see what the down stream effect of doing that would be and a bunch of other considerations. They have made some small bumps to the currency amounts but that shows me that they are NEVER interested in removing the cost, only in increasing the currency acquired.
Also, at some point the cloak will be maxed out, 14-15 weeks from now, nobody will care because the Shadowlands pre patch will be right around the corner

but if you can’t do horrific visions, you’re probably not doing content where it matters all that much if your cloak is 100% current.
falling behind is only a big deal if you’re pushing progression content. If you’re just doing LFR, no raid content at all, or even a casual heroic raider, it doesn’t matter if your cloak is a level or two behind the curve.
if someone is the type of player pushing mythic content or high key m+, they’re not struggling with horrific visions.
edit: and to be clear, I’m not throwing shade at people who aren’t pushing mythic content. But the cloak not being 100% current isn’t a big deal. You’re going to kill those 12 boars regardless, a few extra ilvls on your cloak aren’t going to make a difference.

Really? do you have every mount, toy, pet and transmog item in the game?
Have you completed ALL the achievements?
My point was there is SOOO much content in this game outside of horrific visions. Go find a really old raid instance and try for some mounts. You will be surprised how fun it is to blast the entire place and collect all the loot.
Bring your friends if you want to make it even more fun.
Create a new allied race character and get the heritage armor, the Vulpera are AMAZING.
yes. if you can’t do the content, your choice is to cleanse the gear or figure out how to improve so you can do the content.
(I don’t even know why I’m arguing with you other than I like to argue with you, but I don’t really even disagree with removing the currency cost to do visions)
no seriously. if you can’t advance in them, figure out why that is and work to improve.
The horrific vision do not need a cost. The gear is given once per “difficulty” tier and the cloak itself is capped each week. They wanted players to grind for something… that’s it. It’s completely pointless and isn’t even needed.
horrific visions are 100% soloable ive done all the upgrades thus far solo on my dk. If you want blizzard to just give it to you then you are going to have a bad time
My suggestion isn’t a bad one, and it would simply just allow people to play with their friends without screwing their friends over.
I have a group of friends, due to IRL circumstances, I fell behind, life happens, it’s not a big deal, but now as a healer whom hates DPSing, I’m behind, and to get my friends to join I’d drag them down.
Random pug groups? Yeah, sure good luck convincing them to bring a healer along.
Since I just don’t enjoy Elemental or Enchancement on my shaman, I might as well just give up then?
while there is an achievement for simply doing 5 masks full clear, there’s an even more prestigious achievement that grants a title for doing it solo. granted i doubt many people will be getting that anytime soon with how long it takes to upgrade both the cape and the titanic archives.

I have a healer friend who never dps’s. he can’t solo visions either, and I already have a group I run them with on my main. so I do enough content every week on my alt to get enough things to buy the thing to do a vision with him so he can get his upgrades.
that’s what friends do. not just shove you off and tell you “too bad so sad”
