I’m just learning the class, day 2, but man I don’t think I could survive without WeakAuras. I find myself staring at my indicators tracking my stagger, Ironskin Brew, Key Smash, etc…I had to make my own WeakAuras so I can condense it and move it up to my characters head.
I just want to know if anyone else feels like this, that there are so many different CD’s, so many abilities, so many count down’s you have to track that it would be overwhelming withotu WA
If anyone is interested here is what my WeakAura’s looks like (4K image warning, it will be big for you people on 1080p monitors):

I don’t think you can play this game at all without weakauras(or similar addon) at this point, especially for tanking. I would feel so confused and stressed without all my gauges and icons and such. Its too much, too fast.
Which probably says something negative about their game design but I have my WAs so I don’t care.
Weakauras and Addons help you make decisions and track things that would otherwise take a lot of coordination and awareness from an individual.
For the higher end / mid range guilds I don’t think they would have too much of an issue but even the lower end guilds that might only kill 3 or 4 mythic bosses, or less, a tier I think would still step it up to communicate. The area that would hurt the most would be pugs, by far.
DBM definitely allows the developers to do more with an encounter but if it vanished tomorrow I believe that the majority of players would still be ok but its also for this reason that Normal / heroic / mythic have a different # of mechanics.
For a lot of progression mythic fights the timers on DBM will be inaccurate anyway until pulls are made and data is submitted.
There are a lot of people out there that play Brewmaster at a baseline level without weak auras or addons. If you want to do it, go ahead, but your not really doing yourself any favors lol.
I also dont use any addons when i tank. But im not tanking in mythic raids or anything. All i do is stack my iron brew to the max and use purify when damage gets to be high. Other than that to try to keep my iorn above 6 seconds all the time if not max.
Yup. Most of my addons are a couple changes to the ui, inventory and other non essentials. I have dbm because my raid leader requires it and it helps me for when I’m dpsing
Big difference between playing “properly” and playing “optimally.”
It’s a sad comment on the current raiding and M+ scene that the two are very often conflated.
If you want your wowanalyzer’d logs to be all green, you’re probably using addons to move your action bars/buttons, weakauras or something similar, boss timer mods, or a combination of everything.
And saying the top guilds wouldn’t have much of an issue without addons is pretty hilarious.
Wow analyzer is shoddy at best because it doesn’t take into account a lot of movement and things for some fights.
That said, I don’t have any addons that move bars, buttons. I don’t use weakauras, and while I have DBM I have a lot of things disabled and I can still get “green” in the analyzer. I’m also not a hardcore raider I don’t even set foot into Mythic raids. I run Mythic+ Dungeons, but again not past 11 or 12.
While yes Add-Ons do help some, I find they are too much of a distraction for me. A few cosmetic changes here and there are all I wanted.
