Streamers were not around during vanilla. As a sane, reasonable adult I will never watch a video of someone else playing playing a video game. This forum has been taken over about a factually non-classic thing and actual, relevant and pertinent classic discussion is being smothered.
I’m not saying they should be banned, or not allowed, or anything. I am just saying enough is enough. Give these kids their own forum to where they can discuss people tapping themselves watching video games, and the people who watch videos of people playing video games to their hearts content. Just separate from this forum, which is supposed to be about discussing Classic WoW.
Why so? Just because streaming wasn’t a thing back then doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t be discussed.
Are we also going to ban the use of Discord in classic guilds and force everyone to use Ventrilo? Force people to use Thottbot for quest guides? We don’t have to be stuck in the past about everything.
Don’t blame the kids. It’s Blizzard who made the beta all about streamers. Besides the 72 hour stress test period over the course of the summer, Blizzard has designated the streamers as the gatekeepers of Classic WoW content.
Discuss them in the Streamer forum. Why filth up Classic discussion with this nonsense when you could have your own special forum for streamers and their special audiences?
you idiots realize streamers make up a small percentage of beta testers right? like the minority…so small in comparison to everyone who was invited…its a beta, not a full release, get over it and stop crying like a little bi@#h. I didn’t get an invite but big deal, it comes out in august. If you cant wait that long and want to complain on a forum online about it rethink your life.
Not gonna lie…I’d be down to use Vent again…Thottbot was ok, but WoWhead was always my preference
In all seriousness…I’m tired of all the anti-streamer/pro-streamer threads too…but they and their watchers have as much right to come on the classic forum to discuss classic stuff (even if it’s about a stream that their preferred streamer did of Classic). Now if they come in here talking about BFA or another game, then yeah, you have a leg to stand on. Freedom of speech works both ways.
I watch sports. What I don;t watch is pee wee football players, or a softball team of slobs play. I watch actual professionals do things I never could. Or, my kids - I watch them for support because I would be a sucky parent if I didn’t.
The amount of videos of pro-level competitive players going toe-to-toe is factually far less than 1% of all streaming videos. And that stat was from years and years ago, so it is probably a fraction of a percentage now.
I smoke, I’m in my 40s, and have dad bod out the wazoo - just thinking about exerting myself playing sports is exhausting. I can easily play easy video games myself. I enjoy playing video games - so like an sane, reasonable person I do what I enjoy.
Your analogy is false, bad, and silly. What you guys do is the equivalent of watching someone watch a movie or read a book.
I don’t really agree with the OP, but this is untrue. People often make posts, more than one usually, when a streamer does something “major”. Its true that any piece of news will often be posted, and reposted, but a lot of it isnt news at all. Its not just “i hate streamers” threads.
So, instead of playing the game you presumably are interested in yourself, you watch videos of someone with a better personality do it? I guess that makes sense. Wait, nope. It doesn’t. Playing a game has nothing to do with anyone’s personality besides maybe a character in the actual game.
And before people tell wow is in beta so they can’t - most of the videos of people playing video games are not in beta, and this will continue after beta, and a million other obvious things.
Well, good for whoever that is. I hope Blizzard rewards him and his special fans with their own special forum where they can watch each other walk and chew bubblegum, and then type about it.
