Can you please fix the meta situation

I’m sick of pushing my IO, and having it mean little to nothing in the end, I have a decent score, and yet because I’m not meta. I still cannot get into 15 groups because I can’t do butt loads of damaged with little effort. Its seriously grating and frustrating trying to get KSM in this expansion so far if your not one of the S or A ranked classes according to io or subcreation. Seeing as that’s all that players see and want thanks to it.

Sounds like a community-made problem, not a Blizzard problem. The main solution would be to run with guildies or friends, or join a community like Perky Pugs that does not allow Raider IO.

Blizzard can’t fix a crappy community.

You are not gonna see major nerf until 9.1. The fact the they buffed low-tier specs was a blessing in disguise.

They are part of the problem all around, as they allowed classes and specs to be released in the state that they are in right now.

Sounds like a way of gate keeping you will get no sympathy for that, best you re-roll.

The community is always going to geek out and use simulations to determine what classes and specs are best. In 15 years, why anyone would expect Blizzard to be able to perfectly balance all specs and classes is mind boggling.

A skilled player who is great at the worst class/spec in the game will always outperform a not-so-great player who is playing the best class/spec in game according to simulations.

It is the community who determines that someone is bad for playing what they think is a bad class/spec, not Blizzard. Blizzard is never going to be able to balance classes.

You are relying on the horrible general community… I am recommending that you find a community that is actually decent, that’s all.

some classes have the ability to cc an add (freezing trap), slow all of the adds (tar trap) and stun all of the adds (binding shot) while still doing better damage than most classes.

The community is making the right decision to make their keys much easier by favoring mm hunters, fire mages, moonkins, and rogues. The advantages those classes were given is solely a Blizzard problem, the community is just trying to make their keys succeed.

Which I can’t fault them for, and is why I mainly blame blizzard as they should of known better than to allow those classes to be released with that they have. They need to either reduce, or add the same ability capabilities. To other classes that are lacking in the CC department, and maybe buff and nerf classes to balance it out better.

I have been in pugs with plenty of locks who pull 5.5k overall. I don’t think its your class, but maybe you trying to jump key levels for a few of them. I see you have most on +14 timed but a couple are several keys behind. Overall IO is nice, but if you apply to a SoA 15, but you only timed an 11 that could be why.

How to get into a run as a non-“Meta” class playing DPS.
Copy the following into chat replacing what you are trying to run.

/g hey anyone want to run < insert what you want to run here >

It’s actually a blizz made problem when the power and utility gap between one class and the others is so big. One class is always going to be better than the others, but the difference shouldn’t be astronomical.

binding shot is a root not a stun

it really is not a Blizzard issue, it’s a community issue as they rely on inaccurate stats and SIMs to determine who to bring on runs instead of taking the player not the class.

First mythic I did this expansion (yesterday) I went in on the 3rd boss of Plaguefall as they dropped their first tank for being too ‘squishy’ , same class/spec and higher ilevel with me, after 3rd boss I asked if I was also squishy and their answer was ‘oh heck no, you are great’

Pugs do in fact take players before classes.
If your IO is very high and you are not a SV hunter then you have a good chance, especially if you are a non-meta tank or healer.

the ‘bring the player, not the class/spec’ has been dead for years sadly.
And the drive to make an MMO competitive is only throwing more dirt on that grave, with how WoW is now, partially due to how they balance but mainly due to the community is you follow the guides set in place for you.

In no way is that saying “you can’t play what you want” because your sure as hell-fire can, but also with that, your excluded from a good portion of the game.

As suggested, run with friends / guildies if you plan to play an off-meta spec, it sucks as a warlock main as well, its no fun but. it is what it is, just waiting for the timer to run out.

And when the buff/nerf cycle happens, a new meta will form and we will discuss how bad it is on the forums…its an endless cycle

Yeah, It’s the Blizzard fault that they still suck at balancing after 15 years.

How so? You don’t need to sim anything to establish that VDH is the best tank in a kiting meta. You can’t really sim mobility, survivability and general utility to a group.

When it came down to raw numbers, destro locks were on top of the food chain throughout the entirety of BFA, yet in M+ they were simply not good due to their poor mobility and reliance on hard casts. Spriest had the same issue in Legion, amazing for raiding, god awful for M+ and that’s entirely on how the class works mechanically, not on some player based perception.

WTH does “meta” mean? I assume it’s not the common usage of the term that sort of means self-referential.

All this can do is transfer the problem of meta from your class to another class. You will never fix the problem with the community that think you need WF standards to do anything in game.

You will need completely isolate the invite powers and use the lfd to resolve this . Not happening
