Finished farming conquest for my 2nd varnish, bought it, then tried to put it on my PVE tier gloves (like I did my legs) and it told me it’s not eligible?
Varnish/Lacquer cannot be used on tier items created via the catalyst.

Was it able to used on Catalyst tier last season? I don’t recall that.
What else would you realistically use it on?
Might take a few days after to be able to. My helm was greyed out for 3 days then suddenly was fine.
This is why it’s important to let other people test it out and avoid doing anything without knowing it’ll work first.

yea, I catalyzed a couple bloody token pieces last season and then used the varnish and lacquer on them
That’s a bug.
That’s literally the entire point of them. To not force PvP players to build two sets of tier gear by allowing them to pay the conquest price for the same item and have their tier scale to PvP ilevels.

No loss, was able to refund the varnish. The tier I was going to use for PVE anyway. PVP is my secondary content early season.
Wait… you purchased bloody token gear (which is only 3ilvl below conq level)… Used the catalyst to make them into tier (which would be tier that all ready had near-conquest iLvL) and THEN used conquest to add the 3ilvl?
Am I stating that correctly?

But the idea is that people who PvP already have ilvl on the peices they purchase, and the catalyst simply converts that PvP ilvl pc to tier.
The Varnish/Lacquer system is specifically designed for people who do pve content and want to use their tier in PvP without having to wait 16wks to have enough conq AND catalyst charges to have PvP tier.
So no, in fact, the system was NOT designed to allow PvPers to avoid PvE… it was SPECIFICALLY designed to allow PvE players to enter PvP and not have to regear/retier those slots from scratch.
In the second half of last season when I was sitting on thousands and thousands of conquest, yep!

But real talk… I suppose it isn’t totally crazy to cap out the last few peices. Especially for tier since you aren’t likely to drop tier for blue honor armor (power dependent)
ya I mean it seems reasonable to me. Uncapped conquest, alts geared out with boxes already… what reason would there be not to? It may be a super minimal increase but may as well grab what I can
right. so if i do delves and get a hero track helm as a reward through vault, and catalyst it into tier for my pve set. why then should i not be able to use conquest to buy lacquer and use it on it?
i obtained the tier purely through pve means for my pve set. and then want to spend my conquest to make it pvp ilvl as well so i dont have to regear/retier that slot from scratch waiting for another catalyst charge.
