Can you imagine this game in Unreal Engine 5?

This wow engine is pretty outdated. Wonder when they’re going to step up…

Someone already did. It’s on YouTube.

Blizzard makes their own engines for main line games so they probably wouldn’t bother using Unreal.

there are vids out there of wow areas done in UR5 and I don’t like them at all they suck u can have 'em. wow looks amazeballs as is don’t change it, UR5 is overrated hot garbage

I wondered this myself back in WoD, years later they have released Classic with the same old graphics

Would be neat, considering this game can run on a potato, not every would enjoy it.

I don’t think that look fits this game at all.

The unreal engine reimaginings of wow zones I’ve seen look fine, but they’re distinctly not wow.

They’re never going to step up. They will continue to milk the cow as long as their player base is willing to pay for “Early Access” and a subscription fee for an incredibly mediocre product.

The beauty of being the worlds largest MMO is you get to do whatever you want and people still buy it!

WoW is in many ways equivalent to Pokemon, to big and too many shareholder profits to ever rock the boat or bet big on something exciting and new.

What look? It’s a game engine you can make it look however you’d like, people always assume Unreal has to have that generic asset look from amateur devs on youtube

And when that game exists (it won’t) and actually looks like a Blizzard game maybe I’ll agree with you.

Wow’s engine does a few things right:

It’s already created and completely housed internally. It’s cheap and you have full control. You have a staff of devs that are super familiar with it, with some having been in this sandbox for over a decade.

It offers a unique art aesthetic. We all instantly recognize the IP for it. Love it or hate it, wow does look unique. Imho it blends cartoony and serious well. The sanctum of domination gear or the DF dk s3 set would have looked out of place in vanilla, but the game ages into its art assets extremely well. I’m looking forward to future gear.

I think the system offers the perfect perspective. Every time I see anything in UR engines it feels very tight. Sure, maybe realistic, but I like how open wow feels and how well the camera handles perspective. I don’t feel any different when I go from Tauren to vulpera except when I’m in water.

I’m just sayin…Itz 2024…not 2006…I know they made some changes…But eh…

Sorry…too busy compiling shaders every time I load in.

I think it was Turtle WoW 2 that did this and Blizzard said “Wow, you can’t outdo us - we’re a billion dollar corporation using 20-year-old technology, and we can’t even put in new races 'cause that would require doing actual work and making new rigs, so here are more dwarves and elves. Suck it.”

They actually said this verbatim, it’s on record.

when they do, just give me some notice so I can unsub and get my ESO account going again

with blizzards team as it is today, that would end up in an unplayable, bugged mess lol

Eww, no thanks.
