I don’t really understand the double rank points change. If I am not mistaken, reaching rank 14 requires a certain amount of rank points. Previously, only being in bracket 14 will give you enough rank points to offset the decay to reach rank 14. Now with double rank points, isn’t bracket 7 equivalent to the previous bracket 14, thus allowing you to reach rank 14 without being in bracket 14?
They double decay
If so, how do we rank faster? If the honor gains and losses are both doubled, then the rate of change of honor should remain the same as before. Am I missing something here?
unless they didn’t say and change it no brackets are still REQUIRED for rank so only 1-3 people can get Rank 14 a week. youll only really feel the decay at higher levels when you rank 8 and only in bracket 8 and see you gained 30% only
Current Rating Points - (40% x Current Rating Points) + this week’s Ranking Points = next week’s Rating Points.
The old formula used 20% instead of 40% decay, and also each bracket’s Ranking Point thresholds were doubled (i.e. bracket 14 is 26,000 instead of 13,000).
The result is that you can theoretically rank up twice as fast as before, or decay twice as fast as before. Ranking up or decaying will be more extreme depending on how high / low you are in the brackets / standings, relative to your current rank. You will rank up twice as fast, relative to before, if you are placed above your current rank, and de-rank twice as fast, relative to before, if you are placed below your current rank. This is all theoretical according to the formula and variables we know. But I may be wrong with decay, as there may be some hidden Rating Point maximum for decay, but there isn’t any indication of that which I’ve seen. Either way, it’s absolutely brutal and hardly an improved system considering that it still requires the same level of degeneracy to hit the higher ranks, and it punishes twice as much as before for taking a week off.
So in order to reach rank 14, you will still need to be in bracket 14 on the week you achieve rank 14. This is the same as the old system, no way around it. In order to achieve any rank, you need to be placed at least in the bracket correlating to that rank when you hit that rank.
Also bracket 7 currently tops out at 12,000 ranking points. The old bracket 14 topped out at 13,000 ranking points, so no they’re not equivalent. And when you factor in old and new decay there’s no comparison.
No, because of double rp and double decay the capoff from exponential gains is the same but twice as fast in gains.
If you use the geometric series formula you can see that with 52 weeks at bracket 13 from 0 in the old system is equal to 12000(1 - 0.8^52) / (1 - 0.8) = 59999.4 rp which is not enough.
In the new system rp is doubled so we use 24000 rp instead, and decay is doubled so we use 0.6 in place of the 0.8.
24000(1 - 0.6^52) / (1 - 0.6) = 59999.99999 rp
It doesn’t matter how much you gain at bracket 13 because when you are at 60k rp and are losing 40% of your current rp, 40% of 60k is exactly 24k (the amount you are gaining), you would need to play infinite weeks at bracket 13 to get rank 14.
Same system just double the speed. Ranks 1-10 can be done easier and faster. 11-14 will still require the same top brackets to achieve.
Easy answer, you will not get Rank 14 with out being in bracket 14. TBH Rank 11 is a solid achievable goal for most PvPers. You will still need to no life it for 12+
