But it’s never been.
Two questions:
- Was it Warbound? Because anything can drop for Warbound items.
- Was it from Zekvir’s claw? Because that doesn’t go by loot spec and there are only two things that drop from him.

Not sure. Honestly this is my guess, he can be easily frustrated and doesn’t pay attention to details. I’ll check with him tomorrow and have him link me the item to make sure it’s not a warbound piece. On a good note I got a 584 warbound agi staff for my druid when I finally make it to 80 so hooray me lol.
I can only assume no because he’s only done the regular delves and hasn’t mentioned anything about a “big monster dude” coming in and attacking him.

I have yet to have that happen to me. Items that drop are always for the specified spec.
Had to’ve been Warbound. Otherwise, that is one hellavu problematic azz bug to worry about, when you’re gearing up through Delves.

That’s my thought. I really don’t think it’s set up to intentionally mess your gearing process up.
If it’s a warbound shield Ima give him hell lol.
Stuff like that happens from time to time - bug / glitch no idea, though it is rare for the most part (sometimes an event / new reward will not seem to respect loot spec).
Ret Shields? … Maybe that should be a thing.
Jokes aside, I’m in agreement with the rest of the thread. Glitch, loot spec, or Warbound. Gotta be. Report in if you get deets.

Funny story and not sure if anyone is really familiar with FFXIV gearing process but we spent 7 weeks farming the current raid for our weapons in Endwalker only for him to spend the tome currency he needed to finish buying his weapon and setting him back 2 weeks. He was so mad I don’t think he’ll ever play that game again.
That’s the thing about gearing catch-ups. You never know how Lady Luck’s gonna treat you. It’s meant as an insurance for the worst case scenario.
That said, bad time for him to stop playing… Echoes of Vanadiel’s comin’ out Tuesday.
You can get warbound gear that is not for your spec or class. So either he got a piece of warbound gear, or he accidentally had prot loot rules on.

I keep sword and board spare on my ret in case the tank bails mid instance, so I would be cool with it, but I have gotten crap agility axes and staves for my ret palladin?
My prot pally has gotten the Unhinged Vault-Hatch to drop in a Bountiful, but I have never played him as Ret. It is “possible” to have “Off spec” items drop, but very rarely.
So should that mean you “have a chance” of getting loot outside your assigned loot spec?

I have never seen offspec loot in a delve end-reward and I play as a Paladin.
I’ve never seen intellect gear trinkets/weapons, nor have I seen a 1h or shield as a Ret.
My Fury Warrior set to Arms has never seen a 1H weapon or a tank trinket.

Most likely scenario is that it’s warbound, the Zekvir shield, or he’s just wrong/lying about one of those things. Or it didn’t even come from a delve and dropped off a rare or WQ or something.

I don’t know the veracity of this information since I play Mage but I’ve been told that it can happen but it’s very rare.
Loot only drops what you set your loot spec to be , so no shield can drop if your set to ret
