I just don’t understand why the factions are so unbalanced. Cant you…idk…put an even number of players in one shard and then another even number in another shard and so on?
It would be nice to have mercenary mechanics in open world. Meet the merc rep outside your capital and swap sides for a few hours but only if your side is outnumbered. get slightly more loot, and the chance to gank your friends without making an alt.

I fixed it.Here is how you can fix it to:Go to rested area,open talent tab,click war mode off.

The whole concept of asking PvE’ers to flag for PvP so they can get PvE rewards is just ignorant.
If they wanted to ‘Bring PvP back’, they could have … I dunno, made some maps and give people a reason to queue again? By now this game should have like 20-30 maps to choose from for both BGs and Arenas … but we STILL only have a handful, and they’re not all fun.
They could have made a PvP zone perhaps? Or just have ‘Warmode’ be like Emissary Quests, rare, but, reward-able?
Changing open world PvE for PvE’ers in the name of PvP was never an issue that needed addressed and no one was asking for it.
Warmode is just Blizzards way of acknowledging PvP is in a sad state, and like usual, they act like they’re clueless in regards to how to fix it.

Changing pvp for pve players is just bad. I’ve always been a “do what you like and leave everyone else’s fun alone” kind of guy.

Directing your frustration towards PVE players is pretty pointless. You know, you and all of your Horde PVP friends could have picked different factions to make things more interesting for PVP. How do you expect to have any fun at all when all of you folks who supposedly want PVP go pick the same faction?
Have some of your Horde PVP friends make undergeared Alliance alternates so you’ll have somebody to gank. You’ll be happy as a clam. Problem solved.
These numbers are made up just to illustrate the point, but if you have 10,000 Horde players in War Mode and 2,000 Alliance players in War Mode, no amount of sharding can balance that.
If you wonder why its so unbalanced, turn WM off and watch the world go from no Alliance to Alliance everwhere. You cant force people who don’t want to flag, to flag for WM.
Other Major Changes to Address
I agree w/ OP, Zones need to be capped. If there is 20 horde, there is 20 alliance. A a number that works for both sides and do that FOR EVERY SINGLE ZONE IN THE GAME.
Nothing like being on Mechagon and there is 42 horde to 14 alliance. Try to get rares, chests or even kill normal mobs without mass carnage and killings. A more even number, would dwindle some of these large groups and make it more even.
This can be done and zones can be locked. ie…Nazjatar, when the 3 hour World PVP event comes up for the towers, the servers lock and allow no sharding. Tried to have a friend join on I was winning it and could not.
Other Fixes:

Get ride of Res timers. All this does in punish players who get ganked, like on Mechagon. A player is fulling competent on either waiting it out or getting their body back. They do not need your crappy out of date game-play mechanic punishing them more.

Fly as Ghosts. FYI Ghosts can fly! Oh this game can have demons and all this magical fantasy stuff, but ghosts can’t fly? I mean come on. It’s 2019. Even at a slow speed, we need to allow all players to fly back to their bodies. With all the valleys, mountains, hills and more to navigate, this needs to be done. Also the guy who designed grave yard locations needs to be fired or needs to run back to his body several times every morning when he comes to work, to know how bad it is.

When you res, you can not attack or be attacked for 10 secs, or something along those lines. So if a player is wanting to get away and/or hearth. This also would help get rid of res timers. Pally’s already have this ability, as it is called bubble hearthing haha. Also making players worth no honor does absolutely nothing; as most times players just kill you/attack you cause they want too or gank you in mass groups, just cause they can. The above would also help with this.

More rewards, gear and mounts for open world PVP and bump up the rewards a little for Assaults.
-Make all bonus % for dailies/world quests for each faction the same, if we are balancing zones for each side.
- Can we get more pvp quests, I liked some of the War STory line and they would have you stealth into actual enemy camps to do whatever you needed too and could experience enemy bases up close.
Which leads me to my next point, can we actually take the time to design these bases and flight points to look like military bases from the game or that they at least give off the impression that they are at war. Some of these “camps” or flight paths are literally two people standing there and one of them is a the flight master. Come on, lets take the time to improve these things. Some base camps look ok, the others look like we are homeless people living in the woods.

Buff town guards. For the love of god…nothing like watching a Death Knight tank 10 guards and 2-3 actual players and still kill a player and then still run out of town. Why are guards even there is they do nothing. You give them a net, but make there attacks worthless. Why. Just kill the player. Don’t make them do through 1 min of netting and trying to run to either not be killed and run off or killed.

Look at balancing some of the classes when it comes to open world pvp. With the extra talents ect. I think the extra talents are great and is one of the main reasons I will not turn off war-mode. (like have even less abilities to use, yeah right), but also balance these classes. Death Knights and Warlocks seem a little over powered right now. Where at the beginning of the xpac, Priests were very swole and tough.
-Mechagon is cancer for war-mode, other than capping the zone at “x” amount for each side, I am not sure what can be done. It’s a pretty small island. IMO I think the should have made Mechagon alliance only and had another small island (lets say goblins) for the horde and then Nazjatar would be the zone and faction that both sides would share, and not mechagon. The zone it’s self is quite large would solve most of this bouncing around, jet pack killing death squads of Boba Fetts.
Please fix and this War-Mode was marketed as a major part of this game. And little to no effort has been made to correct anything on any level. You just bump up the reward % for alliance hoping everything will just fix it’self. It will not. But please believe I will take more % than those filthy hordes and kill every one I see (or try, damn DK’s)

I normally try to do warmode for a little bit but always end up turning it off after like 20 mins. I do get help from alliance occasionally buts its like 1 random dude and we are up against 3-5 horde.
If they want to fix war mode then they need to stop incentivizing people to play war mode.
This way people will play on a PVP server(war mode) because they want to. Revealing the true colors of the PvP player base.
So long as it’s not required to progress proffesions or main story lines sure, but I hated having to use the underbelly in legion due to buggy guards. Did someone bribe them just after you entered? Buh-bye guard.
It can’t be balanced. 500,000 horde have it on, 50,000 alliance. Now Balance it.
It’s impossible to balance WPVP.
That’s called having an option.
Even with war mode off horde have more players out there at least on my server.
I agree with you on every point except this one. I don’t think WPvP should be balanced when it comes to classes or gear. Some specs should be stronger than others but if you have the gear you should be able to beat them.
