Can you enchant over an old echant

Do I remember wrong or was there an issue with enchanting over an current enchant?
I was playing UO at the time and may be confusing them games.

No. You can enchant over old enchants as many times as you want.

enchanting over an old enchant has a chance for both enchants to mix and become a super enchant. I once enchanted fiery weapon over another fiery weapon and it evolved into ATOMIC weapon… dealing 3,000 fiery dmg to everything within 50 yards

I was so unlucky. Did this more than 500 times before I gave up on it. Darn RNGesus hates me!

Can’t believe how much gold that wasted…

you could overwrite old enchants with new ones, even if they were worse

only thing u can’t do is ever go back to an item with no special effects on it, make sure u really really want to ruin your thunderfury for that min/max before u do

And you forgot for huntards you have a chance to spawn the super rogue killer pet called S P O R E B A T. BUT ONLY IF YOU PUT CRUSADER ON TOP OF CRUSADER…

Yes, you can enchant over old enchants (you will get a warning message that you will override the old enchant).

So, don’t bother people offering +1 STA to bracers to people in trade. Just pound away on your own to level up.
