I’d rather not have to have a complete setup just for arena. But I see all the streamers having 2-3 versions of every spell for arena123 and I’m wondering if it’s possible to be competitive with just using target/focus and maybe having a macro that kicks focus if there is one.
You at the very least need focus arena 123 and focus poly/kick etc.

I used to use exclusively focus macros (not a glad), which has worked well in the past
Arena/1/2/3 is better though since you don’t have to fiddle with changing your focus on the fly. I’ve gotten hosed before because my focus was set to wrong target/etc.
no you don’t need any of those macros.

Guy I use to raid with hit glad twice in BFA with no arena123 binds. He had a focus CS that was it. Definitely is doable but you make it harder on yourself not having them
idk it’s prob bad but I’ve always clicked on peoples frames on gladius/ wow party frames to heal or do damage/cs and it’s worked pretty well for me 2.6-2.9 every like 7 classes and move completely with my mouse. Just do what feel comfortable for you.
I do have a focus cs/poly macro tho that’s about it.
I use arena123 Cyclone macros as RestoD. I think the only thing I’m missing macro wise is a focus Mighty Bash. Gorecki is actually the king of the focus bash, mad obnoxious to play against him in Rdruid mirrors.
I use mouseover macros for most of my stuff, seems to work fine for me.
Don’t listen to these dorks I LITTERALLY spin my camera and tab kick and I don’t care what any zoomer says IF IT WORK IT WORK.
Just because some cheese ball put it in there class guide doesn’t mean you have to do it
If you can poly and off target without putting downtime in your key presses do it homie, the GCD aspect of this game actually kinda negates the need for focus macros.

you’d have to get pretty lucky if you kick like that against anyone who fakes. You’re basically panic swiveling ur camera every time an important cast go’s off.
And that’s hoping you also don’t accidently kick the arms warrior who’s closer to you than me casting MG

Idk I understand efficiency but I’ve also been playing Mmo pvp for 20 years, back when I learned macros weren’t a thing.
It’s just kind of natural, Id bet a lot of good players have weird habits
Example my pet huddle keybinds is shift-6 and that’s comfortable for me but when I share screen sometimes people throw up
they will definitely make you a better player if you have them. Most glad/r1s do it that way. It’s just faster than having to manage a focus target and swap between, esp. in this fast paced meta.
so the trade-off is having to develop that muscle memory and all the additional keybinds, + having to keep track of the enemy unit you want to CC and where they are in the frame.
An annoying part about having arena123 macros is they aren’t usable outside of arena…like if you do rbgs and M+ for example. Focus macros win in that area, for sure. So you end up with button bloat for days if you do all content and use arena123 macros.
I just put a ; and then repeat the spell and it works outside of arenas

yeah that’s a good idea as well. but that will work on your current target. What do you do about focus? add additional logic?
I’ve never had a need for a focus macro in anything but arenas tbh. Maybe like serious rbgs I guess but thats not my scene
a glad? probably not, they never click. you at least need focus target macros. as for targeting i personally am too used to clicking or tab targeting to get used to targeting macros. idk how i can practice them without messing up when i actually play. as a healer it honestly feels fine just tabbing enemies and clicking my partner but i’m a noob lol.
