Can WoW take advantage of anything more than 8-bit colour depth?

Hi, just got a new monitor and was wondering if WoW could take advantage of 10-bit/12-bit colour depth.

I assume not due to it being an old game, but would like to know for sure.

Thank you

I was of the impression that even most modern games don’t make use of anything past 8-bit, but I’d love to be proved wrong. My monitor supports up to 10-bit (and if the NVidia Control Panel is to be believed, even 12-bit) but only at 144 max refresh rate, so I’ve been running at 240hz 8-bit but 144hz is perfectly good too for games like WoW and wouldn’t mind dropping the framerate if WoW or other newer games could take advantage of the extra color depth.

Most apps don’t use 10 bit color. Wow definitely doesn’t.

There emulated 10-bit in consumer monitors. True 10-bit content creation monitors are bloody expensive.

That’s another problem. Nvidia consumer cards heavily compress bandwidth. If you want to see native 10bit color you either take a sizable hit in performance if the card can even do 10 bit to begin with.
