Warmode is very unbalanced for the horde. I feel like every since Warmode started, they have just left it alone. I wish I could always be in Warmode, but as a Horde Player, the Alliance out numbers 10:1.
Can we bring back pvp realms, back when you could choose your community.
Honestly, a really good idea would to activate Warmode for EVERYONE. But we can’t fight each other unless we are in specific areas of a zone, so your pve player can continue and ignore pvp. But when a warcrate drops it’ll encourage pve players to participate possible.
Which is kind of why they got rid of PVP servers and went with warmode in the first place - most servers were so lopsided WPvP was a joke.
But warmode didn’t solve the underlying issue of lopsided factions, so here we are back where we started, just no longer able to choose an Alliance or Horde server.
And yes - the uncontrollable parts of the CRZ / sharding / phasing systems have been a garbage addition to the game IMO.
I don’t think world pvp can ever work without an extreme revamp that would make it so no one would want to world pvp.
Right now it exists to grief and farm crates because random battle grounds are absolutely infested with premades.
For it to work as a real mode it would need a ffa system where standing within 30 yards of another play would place a stacking dmg taken buff to stop people from grouping up.
Did you read what you quoted? It was absolutely broken. PVP servers were well-known for which faction could go outside cities safely and which couldn’t. It was never a good way to run things. At least Warmode balances occasionally, if by accident.
It’s still warmode, but until it’s 1:1 or close to it, only the world quests (as in NPC stuff) are PvP and players remain neutral to each faction. That gets rid of the endless free Alliance crates. And while it may punish the Alliance for too many players, it gives the Horde a chance to at least do world content
And when it’s highly unbalanced, there ought to be more free for all WQs or areas and disable teams in them. It’s truly every person for himself/herself.
Additionally, you could go to an area and be assigned a role like TEAM X and another player flies in and becomes TEAM Y. and it’s not an abused system but more like the way competitive dragonracing was supposed to be or something like fastest team to wheelbarrow down a hill. My 2 cents
The sole purpose of war mode, was to get rid of PvP servers, so that people on them could unflag from PvP.
As a large number of (apparently very stupid) people claimed they were “trapped” on PvP servers because “I didn’t know that being on a pvp server meant I would be flagged all the time, I just thought it meant I could pvp when i want.”
One would think all theyd have to do is leave the servers exactly as they are, but make one of them where warmode is forced ‘ON’…
but my $$$ is on it being a dead server. I doubt there are as many players who want it “ON” permanently as there used to be
exactly.
theres a comment from someone at bliz from back then somewhere on the web that said they wanted ONE server type to work on instead of two…warmode was the perfect fix for that.
as far as the imbalance, do what they do with a lot of realms…‘full’, etc.
let players join up either choosing horde or alliance for that account to be on that realm. Force warmode On. Then keep the sides within 5 - 10% of each other…no more horde can join until some alliance joins.
Yes, because it is the kind of thing where you implement it, you point to it and say “it exists, go nuts,” so you can literally say just that and consider the problem addressed, because it is.
It’s an open sandbox that solves itself. It’s not the devs’ problem that, to no one’s surprise, it was democratized into barren-ness, thus proving the point that it didn’t need to do anything more than to exist and thus be cited as existing.
War mode is what the community makes of it. If they don’t make anything of it… then that’s what you get.
I hope people remember this lesson when housing happens.
They wanted to do away with PVP servers because there were so many complaints.
Those complaints included dumb dumbs rolling on PVP servers and claiming they had no idea they would always be flagged to players complaining about balance or lack thereof and blaming Blizzard for changes which had allowed many PVP servers to go from reasonably balanced to lopsided in just a few expansions.
Warmode was just the easiest solution to all the complaints.
And of course warmode doesn’t do anything for balance - it just allows Blizzard (and all of us) to say ‘don’t turn on WM unless you want to take the risk’.
