Can we talk about Stormwind

Blizzard, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE fix the lag in SW…
It’s been like this for nearly all of TWW now…

This is UNACCEPTABLE. The lag in SW is 24/7…

Indeed.

…its the perfect time to create some new RP hubs

I think a big reason SW gets so laggy is because of how popular it is, along with people complaining anytime it gets sharded. So, I imagine the ideal solution would be, more or less, the one stated in the post above mine; establish more rp hubs so there’s less people in SW but not so much less it looks dead. I somewhat doubt there’s much short of sharding the devs can do at this point.

In short, spread out or deal with it.

At the risk of having our clubhouse overrun, I will point out that we have a decent amount of RP at the Grim Guzzler in Shadowforge City throughout the week.

I’ve also seen a fair bit of RP in Duskwood lately, and the weekly market was being held in Lakeshire for a while, which I thought was neat. And I’ve heard that Belameth has a little activity.

Things are definitely starting to percolate outside of Stormwind…and I’d love to see that continue.

We should all go to Dalara- Oooof… nevermind…

Stormwind lags because everyone is there trying to be seen, picked up, or show off their roleplay character.

Like Hollywood, and everyone wants their 5-minutes of fame or centerfold.

An example is how every person who portrays they are bad/or wicked hangs out at the Slaughtered Lamb. Warlocks, DH, Shadow Priests, Rogues, etc seeking to look impressive/intimidating to one another.

IC:
For the record I am the baddest here because I hang out/live in the Maw, not in drag waiting for the next Ru Paul/Halloween Project Runway episode by Lion’s Rest.

I have tea parties with the vampiric sucking leeches in Revendreth, swim with the souls of the dead in the River Gorgoa like its spring break, and even go on dates with rotting corpses in Maldraxxus. (or join in the occasional double dutch match with the losing Pit Fighters intestines)

Double Dutch Chant:
(Jaina and Thrall sitting in a tree, K-i-s-s-i-n-g, first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes Hellscream with the rodent carriage.)

You rarely see people hang out/socialize anywhere else on the map.

During the normal 5pm - 4am, if players aren’t questing, delves, or dungeons; they seem to all be in stormwind. There are far more beautiful hubs to be at.

And mages need work/jobs to port players there.

(There is a new hub for the Kaldorei so where are most of them!!!)

We should establish a rotation.

Mondays are Ironforge.
Tuesdays are Boralus.
Wednesdays are Shattrath.
Thursdays are Suramar.
Fridays are Dornogal.
Saturdays are Gilneas.
Sundays are… idk Ramkahen?

And we still will never go to the Exodar.

Good luck finding a decent tavern in the Exodar, anyway!

Looks at the whole world of Azeroth.

I mean, why are you all holed up in Stormwind anyway? Walk ups, lets be real when is the last time you had any decent walks up? We all just sit around staring at each other until the inevitable gunshi(o)ts occur.

You can. Just use it as a proxy for something.

This thread really wasn’t intended to be a discussion about RP in the city itself. Most of the RP’ers know that the quality RP is out in the world. SW ‘walk-ups’ are a different discussion.

More about all the functionality built into SW that the game naturally leads players into, especially while leveling.
Chromie time, mage tower portals, etc…

This is something I’ve felt has needed addressing for a while anyway. I dislike the idea of having one capital with all the amenities so the others are just that, others.

How difficult would it be really to put all the functionality into every capital city? It seems it would also be noticeably jarring as a new player to be swept from the snowy hills of Dun Morogh to SW to talk to a gnome sitting on a pole about time travel questing.

Spread out the convenience you have crammed into one city per faction, and I feel like people will naturally disperse.

Because in Stormwind there’s a low percentage chance of getting your brains eaten by a zombie. I mean…it’s not 0 but it’s low.

100%

I know personally I’d use Ironforge for everything if I could.

Definitely. Still my favorite city. <3

I’ve been under the Cathedral, I can assure you it is in fact NOT 0 percent.

I am not asking for sharding. I want to be perfectly clear.
I don’t really know what the correct answer is, but I know for sure it’s not sharding.

I think one possible answer could be just spreading out the functionality across multiple place, as Jarl said.
We’ve already seen this happen quite effectively with the trading post getting a new ‘post’ in Dornogal, along side of the preexisting SW and Org ‘posts’.

I dont have enough Bane quotes to respond to this.

Y’know what SW needs? to have the entire thing painted RED, also more spikes. I bet you thought I was gonna say trees didn’t you??
