How has this not gotten more attention? The current system is atrocious. There isn’t a way to target farm them, they don’t stack, and you predominately get trash from them. On top of all of that you need to buy a consumable to even open them.
You can buy 50+ scrolls and not get the hit, crit, or mp5 scroll. I don’t mind the good scrolls being a low percent, but 1% - 2% is WAY too low when you cannot farm them.
The new evocation scroll also needs to be completely revamped. It gives 10% mana on an 8 minute cooldown that can’t be used in combat… Why would anyone use that instead of just drinking? It should be a 2-3min CD, usable in combat, and give 20% - 30% of your mana.
On a positive note, the scrolls of Cryoblast are great.

oh it’s a bad system, it’s just that there is so much more that is atrocious that actually affects the game.
This does actually affect my game. The system has been busted since day 1 of SOD and impacts every single person that plays a Mage. Just because there are other issues within the game doesn’t mean this shouldn’t be addressed. The dev team should be more than cable of working on multiple issues at a time.

I don’t like it, and I hope Blizzard scraps it in future phases. Obviously it’s not like they’re mandatory, but having an extra farm with heavy RNG to feel like you’re playing the class “optimally” is not fun. Since the scroll drops are already uncommon, and the actual rewards aren’t predictable, it just feels like there’s an extra set of consumables I need to buy on the AH if I want to push the envelope, compared to other classes.

Don’t forget the new scroll of the sword. Which upgrades the SM dagger. The thing has like a .5% drop for a mild upgrade and only comes from T2 scrolls.

As someone who doesn’t play a mage, I always scratched my head at them. Was tryin to trade one to someone for free and they turned it down… to then be informed that it still wasn’t free, and that they had to pay to identify them. That kind of system with meh scrolls seems terrible.

Please have a look at steady shot and tell me you think a competent dev exists.
I don’t even see any scrolls anymore. I used to see them all the time on my mage. But since P2 I very rarely see a scroll. It forces you to have to buy them off the AH and pray you get at least 1 that is a raid consume. I spent 10g last week trying to get some buff scrolls and didn’t even see the regen one and only got 2 of each of the other two buff scrolls. It is terrible.
the scrolls are absolutely horrible. Hope devs see these posts and just axe the entire system, have never seen anybody say something good about mage scrolls.
It really stupid our res is tied to an item, it’s even worse it stacks in 5’s.
