The lack of ambition and creativeness in Shaman hero talents has me sincerely looking to play another class in TWW when all I really want to play is my shaman. And as a long time WoW player, to be in a position of not feeling excited about a new hero talent feature, or excited to play my class, feels awful.
Let me start by saying I haven’t played Alpha or Beta and only watched content creators videos on youtube.
Farseers
This class fantasy is so basic. It’s essentially another version copy/paste of elemental overload. When you compare Shaman to what other classes are getting for hero talents and animations, why does this seem so…uneventful?
Stormbringer
Tempest gives us 3 chain lightnings. This sounds familiar to what we already have…plus one!
Animations
I don’t know if these are final, but just to be completely honest for honest feedbacks sake @blizz - tempest looks awful. Why can’t you animate our character to float in the air much like when priests cast a spell, make our eyes glow blue, and forked lightning (even using lightning rod animation) spark down at our fingertips.
Farseer - I don’t know if there’s much to do here. It’s fine, I guess? I would have thought actual earth and wind elementals would have made for a better class fantasy. And instead we have dead, old spirits duplicating spells we have already been casting for 10-20 years.
Blizz if you read this, please put some real effort into shaman for us, give us some verbal feedback, even if you can’t have it ready by patch 1.
I agree whole hardetly amd excuse my lack for better words but im sick of shamans getting crapped on latley every xpack and or season. Like atleast give us cool visuals the devs miss alot of really good chances to make the game cooler for ever class ex: shaman tank the bext new class with 4 spec other than druid or how about with the new hero talents not making our new talent just look like the same crap we already have a god dmn lightning bolt like what about making it atleast look like a storm of lightning bolts from a big cloud or something the devs are lacking in the creativity field
Fire elemental is supposed to be our biggest CD, that or Ascension. But Deeply Rooted Elements is 1000% better than Ascension will ever be right now, so that’s out the window. And fire elemental, even as a Primal Elemental, are so lackluster that we really don’t have any big damage CDs at all. It’s kinda rough really.
Completely agree. Personally I wish Blizzard would hire a small, dynamic outside dev studio to do their class design. New energy, creativity, willingness to try something new - so much can be done in class design to breath excitement into this aging MMO. In regard to the Shaman hero talents, everything feels safe, boring, uninspired, vanilla. Worse tho is that the class gets no attention compared to the other ones.
So much effort goes into designing new PVE content for each expansion. I feel like a lot more resources should be thrown at innovative class design options. New shiny trees and bushes will not save an aging gameplay loop.
Instead of being Fire vs Lightning split, the Elemental tree should be split into sides building up Ascension vs Elementals. Whether you command the elements or become their conduit yourself is a much more engaging choice than whether you want to cast blue spells or red spells.
I feel like surge of power should have a more prominent position in the ele tree. It’s a fun mechanic that really lets the player control and focus on their current needs. Aftershock just isn’t a choice compared to it. Is there anyone who doesn’t want to play around surge of power?
I stopped playing shaman after cata I’ve never been a fan of ascendance outside of enhance in MoP with that zap that was beautiful tbh but I much preferred the old unleash elements and prior builds over what we have now I just look at shaman now and have 0 clue what direction it’s even going anymore.
I’ve pretty much already started to bench my Shaman and bringing my Evoker to raid night. Evoker basically does everything Shaman can, but better.
Shaman is just not fun and the utter lack of even basic communication from Blizzard on what their plans are for the class in TWW has me unmotivated to keep playing it. Which is a shame because Shaman is my favorite class thematically and is the only class that uses lightning magic.
