Can we stop with Mind control mechanics in legacy instances?!

So I’ve been pretty casual since the end of Warlords from general burn out etc, so I’ve been getting into all other facets of WoW like gold making, legacy dungeon/raid runs, roleplay, rep grinding, achievement hunting, you name it I’ve probably tried it.

I genuinely love this game and I’ve often found it’s the little things that just stake you in the side when you’re having fun, and my most recent stake that’s been really hurting the vibe has been Mind control mechanics (McM), I often wonder why there isn’t a safe guard in place to prevent these mechanics from going off like a level check to see if you’re over leveled.

I’ve been enjoying gearing up multiple characters to see what class is able to do certain pieces of content but so far the primary brick wall has been Uldir, specifically Mythrax who has by far the WORST McM, there’s no counter play, there’s no warning, nothing, I wouldn’t mind orbs that fly around the room that you have to dodge in order to prevent being mind controlled, but no it’s just a flat status effect.

It’s a bad sign when you’re able to solo N’zoth but not a boss who was released as a first raid of an expansion, I had fun in normal mode Eternal Palace on my arcane mage trying to down The Queen’s Court, I would have to time and save certain cooldowns to prevent mind control and have enough movement abilities to separate each boss so I could do enough damage to finally end both of them at the same time, it felt like a puzzle to solve using my mage to counter the complete BS “mechanic” of duo bosses being beside each other, it felt like beating the Mage Tower for the first time, and I don’t say that lightly.

So please, Dev’s, just have some system where Mind Control cannot be applied to units above their level, and if that’s possible perhaps have another system in place where you talk to an NPC that disables duo bosses being impossible to kill while beside each other like in Halls of Valor or The Queens Court, or bosses chain disabling the player like the Conclave encounter in Battle of Dazar’alor (Transfer the effects of pvp disables to legacy bosses?).

Much love to anyone that reads this, and remember, don’t stand in the fire!

what if you were to find other casual like-minded individuals and go hit up those bosses together?

Anything that impeded old content should be turned off for solo play.Mind control fears bleeds stacking damage taken debuffs etc.We don’t run “Legacy” content for a challenge.

In/Out fast as we want or can do said content then onto the next. That and BFA/SL content which was supposed to be nerfed by 10.05 aint been touched and is still unbearably slow on the Heroic/Mythic side.

As for a system in place.Anyone remember the Pandaren inside the entrance to mop raids which would turn off some safeguards if your guild was good enough to overcome the challenge.Add something like that but with options like Turn Off X mechanics/Add a Damage buff to the player akin to what we get with <Legion dungeons raids etc. other option could be for groups and they only get a damage buff way lower than a solo player so there is still some challenge and to not 1 shot bosses if that group is doing achievements.Something like this I suggest to them quite often.Along with Bonus Rolls having everything but the loot bag stripped from it and the quantity increased to 20 for every expansion and adjusted costs or methods to acquire that many.

One day we will drill it into there thick skulls. Just hope its sooner rather than later.

I remember I wanted to do some mog hunting in BFA and my character didn’t have a way to get to nazjatar, which is content that is about five ish years old now. I am not running this content to be challenged or “experience” the encounter. I am here to get an irrelevant powered item to add to my appearance collection and spin the slot to get some mounts one day one week. This content is old and outdated anyway. Enough. Change these encounters that are a pain to do solo.

not to you, it’s not.
to you it’s brand new.

No its actually not new at all. Because I played through it already on a different character when it was current content.

I thought that would be a little bit implied.

so farm your tmogs on that toon. easy fix.

Yeah brb gonna farm plate mogs on my holy priest. Why didn’t I think of that.

seems like the game’s impossible.

perhaps Hello Kitty Island Adventure would be more up your alley?

Mad cuz wrong.

i dont know, man. i’m not the one unable to unlock 5yo content.

less qq more pew pew

There’s no good reason there’s not just a portal there by default instead of needing to spend the required hours questing through the campaign so I can go to a zone that came out two expansions ago because I made the grievous mistake of making an alt since then

Unless you have some sort of justification for that, its time to shut up.

Ion recently said they did not design those raids or something for solo content running when its dea.d.My question. When desinging a raid for future content and they know this factoid. Why then are there not well basically switches they can go and turn off or add an NPC to the front of the raid with these options Ala Mists of Pandaira. It is not really hard its just complacency at this point.Hell they won’t even add a simple skip function for the Spine of Deathwing fight but let us skipall of Siege of Orgrimmar.Which takes me aroud 40 minutes (Killing everything looting all the crates what have you and any other break I took for that run).So Siege would normally take someone who has a base knowledge of it under 30 minutes easily which is on par with raids like Black Temple or Battle for Mount Hyjal and do they have an instant skip No.Because it is no needed over a fight like Spine of Deathwing which is a precision focused fight for a Full raid of 10 or 25 People not 1 person.Yet Where are We 0 skip still Blizzard outright refuses to do it and for what.So players hunting all the drakes to get the Achievement and reward for that being the Emerald Drake.Or the rogues like I was doing who got stuck after having to get past Spine of deathwing to loot items off Madness of Deathwing. I have been on and on them about this and countless others have also.I even put up a thread mocking the SoO skip over Spine and got all the Obligatory comments one would expect.

Sorry to off tangent in a reply but point still stands. We pay you to play the game if a majority concensus want something fixed or changed You (Blizzard) After some time usually do some not all. This is a Something to do this year kind of thing.Stop working on next expansion/s seeing as the rate you are pumping “a lack of content” for dragonflight means you got something more important in the pipeline and quite frankly you really shouldnt.Fix your older expansions along with this disaster ofa current expansion. If you kept half of that 800 or more staff you fired messes such as what we send you would be solved and we would not have to repeat ourselves over and over like a broken record.

Be Better Get Better Blizzard You are Better if YOU want to BE.

The devs used to go back over legacy content to remove mechanics that prevent soloability. I think the guidelines was that they’d do it two full expansions after.

Maybe it’s too soon, assuming they’re still operating on their old schedule?

The thing is, and a few of us have been talking about it for years - they don’t have to. As Estany mentioned, when designing a boss itself, a person should easily be able to feature flag or use an easily adjustable variable to come into play when content becomes Legacy. It’s entirely plausible they could even have a commit sitting there that will change these that can just be merged in whenever, for minimal effort.

It’s not like these are arcane mysteries or hard to predict. One can look at Sarkareth right now and identify which mechanics will be troubling when soloing.

Side note: They’ve never had a consistent “schedule”. If we applied past precedent, looking at examples like Hellfire Assault Cannons, or Teron Gorefiend being adjusted, we’d already have fixes in place, and definitely before the upcoming patch.
