I’m really looking forward to Shadowlands, I like a lot of stuff they announced, but there’s 1 thing I really dislike:
- Sylvanas once again taking all the spotlight.
Ever since Legion, Sylvanas has been in every expansion cinematic, it’s getting really really boring.
It’s obvious at this point that Sylvanas and Nathanos are the writer’s absolute favorites and they have shown us how they can stomp every single other character into the ground: mentally and physically, but can we finally stop?
Can we finally finish the Sylvanas arc and move on to new/other characters? I miss the days when every expansion had their own unique theme and characters, but I can’t stand Sylvanas not only taking the spotlight every expansion now, but also being the perfect character with unlimited intelligence, knowledge, strength and power.
Some of that seems to also have went over to Nathanos because instead of letting us kill him in the perfect moment in 8.1, they let him live to keep him around for… whatever reason.
I don’t want another Sylvanas themed expansion after 9.0, it’s getting boring. I also don’t want another Sylvanas expansion after 10.0. Just make her the supreme ruler of the universe by single handedly taking out all the titans as you have planned for her, but after that please move on to other characters, even if they are not completely new, but there are other characters that can be used in a cinematic and in future expansions.

I didnt see sylvanas on the vindicaar when illidan was about to get light “converted” or at all with the tomb of sargeras or at all with nighthold. Hyperbole is hyperbole or im just blind.

I agree blizz has been… quite heavy handed in the building up of Sylvanas, but it is still possible for there to be a strong payoff. If there is a good (and legit) reason her motives have been kept secret, I could see a sort of “I’ll make this decision for you because you don’t have the balls to do it” kinda’ thing, but they have 2 problems in how they’re laying it out:
- They put Sylvanas up too high too fast without any semblence of understanding her motives.
- They are writing themselves into a corner with very few opts for why she’s behaving this way beyond the fact that she actually is no longer really Sylvanas, just a meat-puppet for a greater force (e.g. “the jailer”) which would make Sylvanas just a tool in someone else’s plot.

Would make me love this expansion, and it also means that we won’t have another Sylvanas expansion after Shadowlands.

Don’t worry, this will be her last expansion. From now on she will be jailor of death or w/e. Next we’ll get Tyrande Garrosh 3.0, and she will be the jailor or the “Fanatic Light”.
Looks at the loading screen with Slyvanas and Anduin fighting, instead of Slyvanas and Tyrande. Looks at the cinematics with Jaina coming in to fight Slyvanas and saving the day, instead of Tyrande and Malfurion
Yep. And they totally seem to need a human to do all the fighting on the other side. Apparently the rest of us don’t exist, you know the ones who actually deserve to have vengeance and fight Slyvanas. Aka the Night Elves. I would throw the Worgens a bone too but on the other hand, still human just cursed.
Just like the Forsaken…

The only way to fix this is to kill her off in an opening Shadowlands quest-line. If she last the whole way through expansion it’ll be stomach turning.

I’d be happy to be able to get rid of her at all at some point, it seems like they don’t want to do a single expansion without Sylvanas.

Before Sylvanas it was orcs orcs all about orcs and if you weren’t an orc you didn’t matter, for what that’s worth. Horde just isn’t my aesthetic I guess, because I find Sylvie equally disengaging and unpleasant.
