Topic, basically. For mogging purposes are we still able to do this or do I have to get a few people and actually jump into the raid missed appearances?
Yes, if you still have DF gear, or TWW Season 1, you can catalyze it into tier. You can even still do it with Shadowlands catalyzable gear.
What you can’t do is upgrade its ilevel so that you could collect different raid difficulty appearances with the same item. If you catalyze a Normal raid item, that’s all you ever get for that item. You’ll have to find a Heroic ilevel item to catalyze to get the Heroic appearance.
At least catalyzing outdated gear doesn’t cost charges. Just the item and the 5-second countdown each item.

Except at the Catalyst in Zereth Mortis, which has no timer. It still works to catalyze any gear you can catalyze.

I wonder if we have to use the catalyst for each xpac the gear is from or can I just use the one in Dornogal?
Use any of them.
Which makes the no-delay of the Zereth Mortis catalyst extra valuable if you have a bunch to catalyze.
I wish I had known about that before I catalyzed about 10 pieces of TWW S1 gear that I recovered from Item Recovery.
