Realms were converted to “normal“ because it makes no sense to have the distinction with of normal or pvp realms with Warmode since it effectively allows you to change between playing on a normal or pvp realm at will.
All realms are now simultaneously “pvp” and “normal” at the same time with Warmode as an option.
Blizz is not “blocking” pvp. If people are not turning on Warmode then they’re not interested in pvp in the first place and wouldn’t be on a pvp realm or would be on a pvp realm and here complaining on the forum about pvp happening when they get ganked.
like i said. make certain maps or times where war mode are open to everyone. people like you can choose not to participate in those maps or during that time
Make stealth classes have downsides to stealth. I find it absurd how more than half the classes I fight in warmode are stealth classes. And most of them only attack you when you are attacking something in PvE so you rarely have a chance to win.
Get rid of all the extraneous buffs that can make toons nearly invulnerable. Those buffs add extra stupid layers of complexity to what is already a bit of a complex pvp system. It’s impossible to know if you were beaten by a more skilled player who knows how to pvp or if you were simply out-buffed by some tard who spent an hour super buffing himself. Sure, I can go super buff myself too, but world pvp is honestly not worth the effort of finding some obscure buffs to pwn someone.
Oh it’s not that impossible unless you’re talking about Wild Arcana. I use several buffs plus bakar dog and I once got humbled by a feral druid with no buffs at all who was a legit rank one arena player.
Could very well be your server group. Joining any of the Sparks of Life groups will land you in a shard with lots of the enemy faction.
As someone else said too, the WPvP quests often have people there, specifically Protodrakes, Extermination, and the elite boss PvP quests in Thald / Waking / Ohn’ahran.
the only way to keep both is to stay in normal server to keep warmode off to reduce violence. when people behave and play nice. but for now, i keep it this way.
With Warmode on, unless I’m fighting for a War Chest for conquest once per day, I just strole on by when I see the “enemy” faction out in the world. Sometimes I even help them complete their task or mob kill, wave and move on. I spend most of my time it Blitz and I guess I’m satisfied by the amount of PvP I get in BGs. Kinda rarely do I run into someone while doing a quest or world quest for trading post rewards that actually wants to fight.
BUT…
If killing players in WPVP granted conquest I would gank people constantly. The game lacks WPVP rewards after you are geared, and Bloody token gear isn’t needed shortly after the season starts if you cap conquest weekly. I would not mind if they increased player power or cosmetic reward gains from doing WPVP.
war mode dies down at the end of the season when people don’t have to do the sparks quest anymore… the only thing that gets war mode going is the sparks quest now… so blizz will have to make mutliple quests like the sparks quest. Just have daily ones that take into account the weekly quest (which is the sparks quest) and have them in the same areas. There should be multiple warmode daily quests and probably multiple war mode weekly quests to get things going.
A war mode progression scheme of some sort should be applicable too in some way.
More things need to be done for war mode, because of this new change. Whereas before some populated realms had consistent world pvp and most did not. So world pvp died for the people in those realms, but came alive for everyone else. So like I said earlier, things need to be added to stream line the adaptation to the new war mode formula.
Basically give us more conquest from warmode activity somehow.
I just went to Zaralek Cavern and did the entire sparks quest by myself. This was done with a combination of quests, killing rares and a crate drop. All of this was done solo because I didn’t see a single other player anywhere in sight. By the way, that crate sat there ignored for several minutes before I got to it.
My personal belief is that we WPvP’rs are a minority in the overall population of Retail. Blizzard knows this so they gave us the option to turn on WM no matter what realm we call home. The fact that most players have no interest in WPvP is just how the game has evolved over the years. It seems pretty cut and dry to me.
