Can We Pretty Pretty Please With Cherry On Top Keep Level 80's Out Of Lower Bracket Battlegrounds? Pweeeeze?

As the title asks, can we pwetty pwetty pweeze wifh chewwy on tawp keep level 80’s out of lower-level battleground brackets? Or at the very least scale their stats down to that of a mid-level bracket set of gear so that way level 80’s can’t go into lower brackets as gigajuiced ubersweats and quite literally solo the entire other team? I went over an example of this in extensive detail in a previous post of mine that was deleted because Blizzard is trying to mask their incompetence, so I’ll only give a brief reiteration here:

Last night I played a game in the 79 battleground bracket. There was a death knight on the other team. They were level 80, in full level 80 sweatlord stuff. He was killing people with Remorseless Winter alone. 250k damage a tick when most people at that level bracket only have like ~2m hp. It killed people he wasn’t even actively engaged in. He literally one shot people with Obliterate crits, and he had so much sustain all 10 of us couldn’t even drop him to half health before he killed us all. Edit: I forgot to mention he left right before the end of the match so we couldn’t see his name on the scorescreen and report him for griefing. This is a common thing these people will do. They cycle their alts and leave before the match is just about over in order to avoid the report for being 200m+ damage while the next highest is only like 53m.

There is a large number of the playerbase that actually enjoys leveling their alts through battlegrounds because while it’s not the most efficient way to hit 80, most people aren’t running old expansion resilience gear so fights are over quicker, people aren’t immortal Gods just by existing, and matches are generally just more enjoyable. And it gives us a decent little honor boost for when we hit 80. Letting max level players queue into low level brackets while retaining 90% of their stat scaling is sooooo beyond unfair it’s not even funny and it literally ruins the experience for everyone except the smurf. The people on the smurf’s team who wanted to get into a battleground and kill people can’t because all the kills are being hogged by the max level dude pumping 150m+ more damage than anyone of appropriate level ever possibly could, and the people on the opposite team just don’t leave spawn because there’s no point in even trying against that. And it’s not just me that complains about this. Talk to anyone who levels through PvP and they all have the same gripes. It’s been this way since the system was implemented in BfA. Why Blizzard in your infinite wisdom ever thought this was a good idea is beyond me, but I can’t get too indignant here or else some people are gonna get their feelings hurt and report this thread like they did my last one.

I understand the idea of letting a higher level person play with their lower level buddies, I do. I mean that’s one of the good things about your competitor Final Fantasy 14 after all. Everyone of every level can play together without hindering each others progress. So in theory it’s a wonderful idea. And if executed properly it’s a incredibly welcomed addition to the game. However, this is NOT how it should be done. Not even close. The least you could do is scale their stats down to that of a mid level in the bracket, such as like if it’s a 71-79 bracket, scale their stats down to that of someone at level 75. That way they can still contribute to victory without being the sole reason for it. Also disable their set bonuses while in the lower bracket. Going into a battleground full of low levels in gear meant to sustain you against the top 10% is INSANE that it ever made it past the idea board.

I mean I don’t know what more to say on the subject that’s not gonna hurt somebodies fragile little mind to the point where they’ll report this post and get it removed. Ah who am I kidding, even changing it around to be a lot nicer is still gonna get it flagged because how DARE I suggest a change to YOUR beloved game.

Blizzard: “Reasonable request denied!”

I can promise you even if they grant your wish MM hunters will just eat everyone.

Class balance has always been an issue in this game though. At least on the casual level, which is what BG’s are. The problem was only made worse when they made sure that every class was capable of doing everything. At least if they stopped letting level 80’s have their level 80 stats in bgs we could at least stand a chance of having some fun in pre-end game bgs.

It will guarantee be ‘why are twink characters allowed in my levelling bg, were just trying to have fun’.

Why am I saying this? Because twinks in that BG beat 80s too.

Is it griefing though? If they are abusing an exploit to get in there I could see it being a cheating violation, but it seems to be the exact opposite of griefing. This sounds more like an issue with either level scaling or the way gear works in PvP rather than anything else.

It’s all of the above I believe. At least as far as they’re concerned they always act like it’s exploiting since they never stick around for the final screen. And from what I hear from others a lot of people kind of just get on a lowbie alt of their own just so they can get into the lower brackets on their high level mains and do all that. Is it technically against Blizzard’s ToS? Not really I don’t think. I mean if it was Blizzard wouldn’t of put the feature in the game themselves. And honestly I’m not even asking for them to be punished for doing it, I just want Blizzard to make their scaling more substantial because being able to go into a low level PvP bracket with most of your stat bonuses intact with full set bonuses is what leads to this. Set bonuses should be disabled below the cap for BG’s imo and the further away from the max level bracket the BG they’re queueing into is, the harsher the penalty on their stats they should receive. But being able to keep the vast majority of their bonuses doesn’t just make them twink levels of strong, it puts them on a tier twinks could only ever dream of getting to, ya’know?

Another example is I did a BG earlier today and there was a level 80 healer priest on the other team in the BG. In the time it took the horde and alliance to clash over the first attempt at Blacksmith in Arathi Basin, which all of you know it only takes about 2-3 minutes from the start of the match for one side to claim Blacksmith, this priest had done over 100m healing. Like wat? His bubble was literally unbreakable. It’s like the literal meme of having God on your side. The game was over like 4 minutes later because they 5 capped us and were spawn camping. If the game didn’t mercy rule I could of seen that dude easily break like 400m total healing that game.

Of course not every game has someone like that in it, but so far just from my personal experience, and others may have different encounter rates with this, but seems like 1 in 3 or 4 games has some level 80 smurf in it that just owns the entire match. This is an average of course. Some games you might get them back to back, other times you might go 5 games without seeing one. It just seems like it’s on average 1-3/4 games.
