The 6-month sub owl mount is lit. That’s awesome.
But why is its pet version Classic-only? What is with this constant “Retail and Classic have to have their own separate rewards” mantra that’s gone on for years and almost nobody likes?
The pet is awesome, but I can’t use it in Retail, because reasons? Stop doing that.

They’re probably just trying to incentivize people to play both game modes.

the og classic experience is not even having a shop, thats sad
Maybe they’ll give us a copy on the TP like they did Blorp or Blorg, whatever that fish’s name is.
Btw I agree with you. I wanted the drake mount that was only available in Classic.
The “no changes” mantra evaporated pretty quickly.

It’s your fault… you named your character after a tumor and this is karma’s payback.

To be honest, I feel like that’s worse than not getting it at all if you’re already doing the sub bundle. Feels like you’re effectively dumping tenders just to have access to a pet you already technically own.

Speaking only for myself, if they want to incentivize me to play Classic, then they should make that pet unlockable on Retail by logging into Classic. But keeping it permanently locked to Classic=I’m not even going to bother.

Same. The only time I touched classic was to get the Frostbrood wyrm in retail.

“No changes” doesn’t really make sense. I mean you have years of feedback, to ignore that when you could make the game better for almost everybody? Using solutions that you already engineered and know the outcomes for? I mean, come on.
The heirloom change for example is something awesome they should have done in wrath. I still think they should do AOE looting.
This works both ways: Big changes like level scaling that killed the feeling of progression while leveling and has been widely negatively received, you could opt not to put that in. That would be a change but it would be a good change.
No changes would mean we’re stuck with every bad change almost nobody liked, and we don’t have any good change almost everybody wants.

Yup! I’m fine with something like that.
Ditto.
I’d probably actually play SoD if you could unlock some retail cosmetics a la Remix.

Personally I do not really see the point with Classic once they started to add expansions to it. But that is just me.

100% agree. Personally, I think only Vanilla and a BC server was enough. But now they just keep overriding them them with the next expansions which makes 0 sense to me. I can even see at least doing Wrath still to and do a Vanilla, BC and Wrath only servers. But instead they removed BC for Wrath. And now removed Wrath with Cata.
It’s smart business.
You have X amount of developers with X amount of time to make product.
You make product for a genre notorious for content devourers. The people who play 12+ hours a day can consume content faster than it can be created, and many begin howling when they don’t get more.
What do you do?
You revive old content and add small customizations to keep it interesting.
Do you know how long it takes to create a zone and how many man-hours it represents?
The fun thing is that, if I’m not mistaken, TBC is now technically the expansion with the most “lost content,” since Cata’s revamp removed the Blood Elf Paladin and Draenei Shaman questlines, a number of attunement questlines, and most of the post-Vanilla profession specialization stuff. Most of it would’ve been “preserved” if they did a “Wrath Era” server.
As a pet collector, I am disappointed every single time. At least give us the pet on the trading post or something.

We can get that anyway by keep supporting the old. It is possible that this is sort of the goal with the current Pandaria Remix. Trying out Classic but with the modern game could be an alternative. What I really want to see is an upgrade of the old zones in a “now” setting with new adventures. Imagine revisiting Pandaria and the locals with help from both the Horde and the Allience are busy restoring the giant Jade Serpent statue that was destroyed in a pointless battle.
Bridge builders erecting bridges over the chasms caused by the Cataclysm.
The Forsaken running an expedition of their own trying to capture and “awaken” remaining Scourge forces. The Worgen Gilneans already do something similar trying to treat the many Worgen i Duskwood. I came to think of it, that mean that there would be plenty of non Gilnean Worgen by now.
