Can we please see the original iterations of Heroic Strike & Cleave return for Warriors in The War Within?

One thing that is jarring for me when I switch from Classic to Retail Warrior is the inability to spend rage on converting my next auto to Heroic Strike or Cleave.

Please bring back the old Heroic Strike and Cleave as they were in early iterations of WoW!

The class has changed since then and has different ways to burn excess rage now.

Also those were never fun.

Fun enough for me to make a post about it and for someone to create a website dedicated to Heroic Strike back in the day when it was removed. But sure, it was never fun and people didn’t love the interaction.

The purpose of heroic strike doesn’t really fit modern warrior. Autos generate so much rage nowadays that stopping one to do slightly more damage no longer makes sense. Converting an auto to a special attack in wotlk also had the advantage of changing the hit rate of the ability. However, for multiple expansions now, hit rate for non dual wielding has been 100% and fury has focus in chaos to suppress the dual wield hit penalty while enraged.

Heroic strike was always better for fury since while it was queued, your off hand attacks that landed during that window would roll on the special hit table and have a reduced chance to miss. Problem is, it is arms that would benefit the most from an off gcd spender and not fury due to rampage’s rotational benefit and high rage cost. For arms to press heroic strike though, you would have to sacrifice however much rage to cast heroic strike in addition to the 27.5 rage lost from the auto attack, the latter not being factored into tactician or test of might.

I appreciate this response. It makes sense that modern warrior doesn’t really need it.
