Can We Please Reduce Bloat, Increase Efficiency, And Break A Time-sink With This Simple Evergreen Change?

I’m a player who likes to have professions on all of my character, and max those professions. I go back and max all of the old content for the profession too - it’s a habit. In doing so though, I know there are enchanting patterns for gloves for SPECIFIC expansions only. Why? Can we not have a global enchant that works for the current and previous expansions that increase crafting speed? By doing so, you could remove all of the older enchanting patterns because they would be obsolete, and define a clear and current quality of life change for the old-guard and new.

In addition, this change should apply to all professions - a truly global enchant.

  • It should increase crafting speed for all crafting professions across all expansions.
  • It should be able to be applied to any ilvl gear, no restrictions

I wouldn’t have to swap to older gloves with an outdated crafting enchant. I wouldn’t have to remember to equip correct gear because I wanted to engage more efficiently with other content.

What stops them from implementing this? I understand the hesitation around current expansion crafting speed and people “gaming-the-system”. That should not prevent an evergreen solution to a very stupid problem that’s been self-inflicted.

Thoughts?

Every expansion they have a specific model of how crafting and gathering should work. This model assumes you have certain stats. Including older expansions would complicate that.

For example, in this expansion there is a deftness challenge (EZ-mine mining nodes) which becomes easier and more lucrative the more deftness one has. There was not such a challenge in older expansions. To balance their model, they have to make it so the ranges of deftness possible in the expansion result in a significant difference in outcome.

They probably did not include the crafting speed enchant because they decided to move that to a phial.

One thing I think they should do is make all items backwards compatible though. We should be able to use +Khaz Algar skill on DF items. Yes, that would break the DF model but who cares? There’s only a limited number of items still being produced for DF and none of them are combat-related.
