People abusing 3rd party software is lagging so much the AH.
The lag might be from API limiting so… Yes we can!
the API is used by 3rd party programs (Addons) and scripts that keep scanning the AH for certain items and auto-buying them.
Your normal usage of the AH is done via standard UI and doesn’t use this API so it shouldn’t be throttled.

The auction house doesn’t distinguish between requests from add-ons or from players, because it all goes through the same client.

Are you SURE about that?
Because I know for a fact that addons that work with the AH they have to use the APIs that are exposed for them to work with the auction house, while the standard UI uses protected APIs that are allowed only for them, and they have done already in the past the throttle for addons using the AH while the standard client hasn’t been affected.
I’m sure they’re rate limiting everything right now, because you’re getting relatively uniform response times from the API instead of timeouts.
Share some docs for the addon apis.
That won’t make any difference. This many people at the start of an expansion being this competitive is going to cause issues even with the default UI.
It doesn’t make sense.
If you guys pay attention you can clearly see that these people are posting low prices for every items, then people post things without seeing the price they’re posting.
Then they snipe those items fast with those addons and while you were trying to buy 50 of those items (and you can’t select the price you pay you just select the amount you’re buying) boom, item is no longer avaiable (it doesn’t even recalculate).
It is clear to me that these addons are left unchecked and the API is literally making the AH unusuable to everyone.
Do you have proof that’s what is causing the lag?
