Can We Please Have More DH Races

I really would like to be a different race. I like the class, but the Elf or Elf really grinds my gears. I dont like the aesthetic of Blood Elves. I dont think it would matter to lore. DK’s can now be any race, Including Pandaren. If that works, adding a few more options would be great. I would love to see Gnome and Tauren. The two ends of the spectrum.

Love to have more option. The story of demon hunter would be very unusual after more races become them. That should bother the lore junkies.

Is there any “lore” to being a death knight? Any mortal race that dies, can be raised again and BOOM! Death Knight.

These aren’t the WC2 death knights – alliance knights’ cadavers infused with the essence of Shadow Council members. That would have some race-restricted lore attached.

DHs on the other hand, were trained by Illidan at some point in the past before his setback at the Black Temple. However much you like or dislike, agree or disagree, with that back story – the point is DHs were ‘created’ at some point in the past, and not something that continues to happen presently… unlike raising a death knight, which can happen at any time.

Case in point, the SL prepatch event that is coming up will include Bolvar raising new legions of DKs.

Lorewise the only races that can be demon hunters would be Void elves, Nightborne and Zandalari.

Now you’re possibly raising your eyes at Zandalari but they’re a different form of demon hunters through Daemonics ( similar to how tauren can be paladins through Sunwalkers), Zandalari through Freethinkers or Rezan followers or kultiran shamans through Tidesages).

It would matter to lore. And the reason DKs can now be any race is precisely because they added the lore for it.

You’ll have to wait until the demons become an issue again and the Illidari need to recruit more races. Then they can make a new storyline for new races. As of right now, though… no.

Of course, the moment they open up to new races is the moment I quit the game, but… that’s neither here nor there. You’re still gonna have to wait for lore to be added and for it to make sense with the storyline to do so.

Yes. But it can only be Pandaren.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a huge elf person either.

But none of the current races in my mind could work as a DH and I say this as a (former) DH main.

Every time I imagine it, I  :face_vomiting:

Add new races that could work for them, like a Demon race or something… That would be my preferable.

It does though, because new DK’s in Shadowlands actually makes sense.

Lorewise Zandalari is the only race that can be every class while remaining lore friendly.

Even Zandalari monks could be argued as simply Loa devouts

Illidan would have just sent the gnomes and the other filthy races home. It was strictly an elf thing.

Maybe the next time we have to face a demonic army, the enlistment might open up to the mud bloods.

Velfs can’t be. They’ll literally explode.

Nightborne weren’t around during the events at Black Temple.

Zanda weren’t around for those events, either. And that lore was retconned.

This concept seems to have been retconned since Classic . In Mists of Pandaria , demoniacs were one of the only professions not to appear among the Zandalari, contrary to haruspices and others, and in Battle for Azeroth , Zandalari have a much more holy aspect to them. Following the announcement of the Zandalari allied race, Blizzard stated that Zandalari have no connection to fel magic and therefore cannot play as warlocks.[4]

Illidan was clearly an elf supremacist.

He had orcs and broken in his ranks but treated them like absolute garbage

Not before atleast 1 or 2 more expansions. Basicly until they feel like having a 2nd coming like dks are getting with Bolvar. Wouldn’t surprise me tho that for the next expansion after Shadowlands they just make all races/classes combo available and get rid of factions locking people from playing with each others.

WoW GD:

So a powerful troll empire on Zandalar had zero contact with the fel but the foxes living in mud huts and tents found the fel…? Seems totally reasonable and likely.

They’re never getting rid of factions. That is too entwined in all the lore and history of the Warcraft universe. We might hold hands while fighting the Big Bad that can stomp us all, but once that’s over, it’s back to killing each other. This is the way of things.

Warlocks literally use void and fel magic completely fine.

Also warlock void elves literally exist.

I’m not saying to get rid of them, but they will allow cross-faction play at some point when there’s not enough players. We don’t see the problem yet on the Horde side, but the Alliance side already struggle a bit.

There definitely needs to be a reshuffling of some sort. The cows clearly have more in common with the night elves than any of the horde races.

Why would any race want to be allies of the Forsaken? The stench alone would make you reconsider your alliance.

Speaking of smells … everyone would want Blood Elves on their side. They probably smell like cherry blossoms or roses.
