Title. They’re literally useless. you can’t slot them in your legion artifacts… Like why aren’t they gray junk?
I would rather them and rings/necks not drop anymore from old content

But my post-legion artifact ilvl min-maxing.
Rings (and necks) still have some value to lower level characters and for Timewalking optimization. But now that artifact fragments are literally worthless and can’t be slotted anymore, it wouls be nice to finally see them removed from drop tables.

You can, they just have to go in the right type of socket.

eh? When did that happen? I know they deactivated the traits, but last I checked they still gave an ilvl boost.

To OP:
Get Scrap addon. You can set anything keep or junk, and can mass sell your junk in one click, or automatically. Problem solved!

Stricly speaking, the relics still have value in that you can slot them into your artifact… it’s just that the hard cap on the artifact is a pitiful 80 no matter what relics you shove into it.

get an addon like dejunk. Allows you to automatically flag items under a certain ilevel to auto vendor.

This almost never happens, and for good reason. Do you understand how much back end work it would require to literally remove hundreds of items from the loot pool for dead content? They should just convert all of them to gray/junk and be done with it. There are a dozen trash sweeping addons to clean it up.
I have Dejunk. It includes unsuitable gear, not relics or other objects. I made a post on the github months ago asking for Legion artifact junk to be included, and have never heard anything back. At this point, it’s a lost cause to assume they’ll update that addon to include legion stuff 
You know what’s even worse? Not even being able to destroy any items related to the heart of azeroth. They take up space in the bank and you literally cannot get rid of them.

if that’s the case then it probably has to be manually added to the sell list, which is quite annoying

You would still sell them for the same price, they would just be grey, so why no?

Why would you destroy them? You’re gonna need them for WoW: BFA2 
Yeah, and the hard part is that you need to add them to the sell list on every single character you play on (imagine doing this for 15 characters), for every single item, and it will reset any time you update the addon. GL with that

No need, you should be able to import character specific settings on other character.

They can. They need to be equipped to do it, though.
I think there should be a new storage tab at the void storage NPC where you can put things that can’t be destroyed.

Turns out they still can, apparently. I was under the mistaken assumption that since the tooltip had been updated to no longer show how many IL + the relic gives that they didn’t upgrade the artifact weapon at all anymore, but apparently they do, its just that their scaling is incredibly weird now.
Generally true, which is why neck is in parenthesis. There was a time when getting particular necks for mage tower was a thing because of legacy enchants (mark of the satyr, i think?).

And while they’re at it, let us trash the artifact weapons. Having 3 or 4(druid) bank slots devoted to trash sucks.
