Can we please get new glyphs?

Glyphs are so underutilized its kind of crazy. A good example is levitate for priest. On the warband screen, Discipline gets a half shadow-half holy levitate, and Shadow priest gets a fully shadow themed levitate. Neither of those are in the actual game though, but should be in the form of glyphs.

Glyphs can enhance spec fantasy without forcing players into doing x or y specific thing. It provides more customization for our characters and overall just adds to the game in a positive way.

Another example using my class: Holy gets a glyph that gives your healing spells a chance to give you angel wings. Disc should get one that gives your healing/damaging spells a chance to give you angel or shadow wings. Begging the developers to stop being afraid of glyphs/visual customization.

Edit: Adding in more examples for priest glyphs, these enhance the theme of the appropriate spec

-Fully shadow holy nova for shadow priest
-Holy nova gets slight shadow effects for Disc Priest
-Fully shadow Flash Heal for Shadow priest
-Slight shadow effects on Flash Heal for Disc Priest
-Fully shadow Angelic Feather for Shadow priest
-Slight shadow effects on Angelic Feather for Disc Priest
-Fully shadow Power word: shield for Shadow priest
-Slight shadow effects on Power word: shield for Disc priest
-Rotating shadow/light effects on Oracle visuals for Disc priest
-Fully shadow effects on Oracle visuals for Disc priest
-Ability to remove passive visual effects gained from hero trees for people that have to pick a hero tree but the visuals clash with their theme/transmog

Something needs to happen with them - right now too afraid to touch them they’re so outdated. One of them on warriors is perma stuck if you go to glyph it, unable to be Vanishing Powdered off, and there’s one for Holy Shock on pally that does nothing at all lol. Who knows what other bugs there might be.

Glyphs still exist? I haven’t used one in years.

Yeah I find it really surprising that glyphs are just being left to rot when they actually provide so much theme and spec fantasy to classes. They could utilize glyphs so much more than they do, people were so pumped about them when we got new ones in legion.

Glyphs could be so cool.

  • Want to be a “Fel Priest”? There are glyphs to convert your shadow or holy spells to fel animations?
  • Want to be a void knight? There are glyphs to convert your paladin abilities to Void…
  • Druid of the Flame? We got you with this fiery nature pack.

And so on…

They half added a new monk glyph in tww.
They added it to the files but not the game XD

Probably best to add these more like green fire.

Not because of mechanical reasons, but because glyph sounds lazy for full theme swap - love to see some kind of epic questline tied to those explaining it and all.

Glyphs can always be rewards in a quest chain. Complete this chain to unlock the use of all of these glyphs.

I guess that’d work too

I think glyphs should mostly stick to class/spec fantasy, so not something like fel for priest. But enhancing what is already there is absolutely possible, ie glyphs that lean into the dark angel version of shadow priest and glyphs that lean into the void/old god version of shadow priest.

Things that also enhance current spec fantasy, ie the half shadow-half holy levitate for disc, and a glyph for disc that has a chance to give you angel/void wings from damaging/healing spells really feels thematic for discs half holy half shadow fantasy.

Well pepperidge farm remembers when glyphs were useful. But I think those days are over and all they do now is something passive like change the color of path of ice

I tend to use it for Druids via Glyphs of Stars & Cheetah. Though, the way Blizz butchered the Travel Form side of things, makes Cheetah moot, but that’s another conversation to be had.

Yeah that is basically exactly what they should be used for imo. I’m not asking for old cata type glyphs back. I think the current system is perfect for them, enhancing class/spec fantasy via visual customization, but they are just not utilized enough by the devs which is what I’m saying. We haven’t gotten new ones since Legion.

Can they fix the ones we have too? Still can’t use the glyph of geist on my DK and all the rest of my cosmetics are just gone---- are we gonna have to replace those or will they be coming back? Or did blizz just scrap the whole idea of cosmetics?

Also, we need TONS more cosmetic glyphs. Its part of the fun of playing an mmo-- the customization. Please give us more, not less! :frowning:

They should definitely have a patch where they focus on fixing current glyphs and adding new ones for every class. Its such a massive part of WoW (and mmos like you said) nowadays that they are falling behind on visual customization despite having a system in the game (glyphs) that is better than most for this.

There is also no real need for them to be super careful here because again glyphs can be used to enhance the theme of a spec/class, not necessarily change it, so it wouldn’t have any detriment and is not like green fire either (although I want to see stuff like green fire too but hero talents can cover that in the future possibly).

Adding some examples of glyphs that could be added using my class as an example again.

-For Disc oracle priest, a glyph that changes the third eye/glowy eyes and the triangle hologram thing into a rotating shadow/holy visual rather than just holy to fit the theme of the spec.

-For shadow priest, add a glyph that makes your flash heal take on a shadow effect/appearance

-For shadow priest, add a glyph that makes your levitate take on a shadow appearance. For disc priest add a glyph that makes your levitate take on a half holy half shadow appearance (both of these are on the warband screen).

There have been some really cool visuals to come out of hero talents and spec reworks in general, priest has some of the best so I dont want to act spoiled here but glyphs are amazing due to adding visual customization that still remains within the confines of spec/class fantasy.

I would love a Storm, Earth and Fire glyph that turns them into mini celestials. And a Whirling Dragon Punch glyph that sets our fist on fire.

That would be super cool for monk.

I saw megasett on twitter asking for glyphs for jadefire stomp as well, to make them the color of each celestial (1 glyph for each celestial color, and 1 glyph to do all colors that will alternate when you use stomp). Thought that was an awesome idea.

There are so many things like that glyphs can do which just enhance the class/spec fantasy. You had a great example here.

Mirror Image glyph that turns them into Water Elementals, Phoenixes or (I dunno) Mana Wyrms.

monk glyphs are boring.

whats the point of changing a couple spells’ color if the rest of the kit dont follow. meh.

they need some kind of rework/overhaul
