Can we please get LFG flags

hi fam!

I know everyone is against adding content to classic but what i’m suggesting does not change classic in anyway. With that said this is what i’m suggesting…

Is there a way that we can get a flag for people LFG so we have the ability to search for people specifically looking for group. Allow them to add a text box so when we search for them we know what they are looking for. I don’t want it to auto party fill, People still have to message the person but we could do something like /who LFG and be able to pull up a list of people who have flagged themselves looking for group. In the comment section you could say “looking for help quesion” or “Looking for DM runs” for example. Anyti,e you type /who LFG it will pull up anyone in the world who is 6 levels above or below you that you can sent messages to for party’s. This is not game changing in any way it really is just an added search function.

Would thi be something others are interested in? Again, this does not break the game, it’s not LFG in retail, it’s strictly just a flag that makes it so we can search for people on our servers to party up with.

Thanks for considering it.

Have a lovely day!

I think this was done (or something similar) in The Burning Crusade so you can look forward to it there if we get that expansion.

I understand your point, and I’m thankful that you articulated it clearly and without resorting to name-calling or rudeness, but unfortunately I cleave closer to the #NoChanges crowd on this one. Any kind of LFG function reduces the necessity for people to communicate in the open world, and although what you are proposing here does still require some measure of social interaction, I still can’t get behind it.

one thing we could do, if everyone in the game got on board, create our own chat channels.
type, for example
/join LFGDeadmines
or
/join LFGWailingCaverns
or
/join LFGTheStockades

though it’d require community effort you’d possibly have entire chat channels filled with people looking for that particular dungeon

though I did always like the LFG addition they had in I think TBC/WotLK where you could post that you were looking for “X” dungeon and you could search for people looking for “X” dungeon

I completely agree with you on the no LFG function. All i’m asking for is a search option. Nothing would change other then flagging your name in a box we can search for. It would be similar to searching for people with the /who functionality. But instead of pulling everyone it will only pull people who have flagged themselves for looking for group. To me that doesn’t change the game in anyway. It purely just adds search functionality to wow classic. But with that said if we implement this where would it stop?

Someone else mentioned we could create our own chat channels. That would be pretty awesome too however i don’t know how to do this lol.

I started to fully agree with you right up until you mentioned the slippery slope caveat. What would stop that from evolving into a more pervasive LFG system? What you’re proposing would definitely be convenient, but when it comes to it, when has Classic ever been about convenience? It is a game that, most of the time, forces you to focus and make careful choices to avert disaster and level quicker. And, even if an in-game system like what you are proposing could be worked out, people in the #NoChanges crowd would absolutely melt down over it. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’re ever likely to utilize systems like these unless Blizzard takes the road less traveled and creates Classic+ content (which is pretty unlikely).

What about just a world lfg channel? I agree about no group finder, but would love a channel where you can look for a group without having to be in general. Bleh, come to think of it, I am sure it would turn into something worse than general, never mind.

there is one
/join LookingForGroup

There’s an addon that does that. It’ll parse your chat windows and organize all of it into a UI. The only downside is someone has to type LFM or LFG first in a channel that you’re able to see (or use the addon to list themselves as looking for a group). This community will attack you for wanting to use an addon like that, because we have to have chat spam to create the illusion of being a social community.

It was going to be better, but stupid people championed against it because, literally “someone could copy his code and program it to automatically make groups.”

Here’s whatcha do.

All tanks go to Ironforge.
Dps to Darnassus.
Heals to Stormwind.

Poof, searchable by location.

If that’s too spread out. Find some locations with each city and make 1 room for each roll. Stand in the room ready for inspection.

Vanilla had an LFG mechanism from 1.3 (I think it was), no one used it but it was there then and it’s here now.

First you get you flg flags. Then what? Flg parades…jk
