Can We Please Get Any Communication on Demon Hunters for 11.2?

I’m looking over the 11.2 PTR and every single class seems to be getting something this patch, tuning passes, QoL updates, talent adjustments, bug fixes, you name it. Meanwhile, Demon Hunters? Nothing. Not a word, not a blue post, not even a “Hey, you’re fine for now.” Just silence.

It’s haunting, honestly. At least in the past when classes were getting reworks or were being left alone for a patch, we’d get a developer post explaining why or what was coming down the line. Even a sentence or two was enough to let those communities know they weren’t being completely ignored.

But here we are, heading into a major patch and the launch of Midnight, and there is zero communication on what’s happening with Havoc or Vengeance. Are we getting changes? Are we not getting changes? Are we in a good spot? Are there any known issues being looked at? We have no idea, and that’s incredibly frustrating for those of us who have stuck with this class for years.

The speculation around a potential Void-themed third spec is exciting, but if we are sacrificing an entire raid tier of updates for the possibility of a third spec, that’s a tough pill to swallow, especially when core issues and tuning problems for Havoc and Vengeance remain unaddressed. Even if nothing is coming this patch, we deserve to know why, and what the plan is moving forward.

We’re not demanding a complete rework overnight. We’re not asking for a huge redesign for 11.2 if that isn’t the plan. We’re simply asking for communication. Let us know where we stand so we aren’t left in limbo while every other class gets attention.

The Demon Hunter community has been patient, but the silence is starting to feel like abandonment. Please, just let us know what’s going on.

Could the silence be possibly related to a potential new spec for DH?

Was curious, and Dev got quite a bit of changes prior to Aug being released, so precedent is not to go radio silent prior to a new spec.

People are certainly interested to see where they intend DH to go.

Could it? Sure. But that doesn’t mean it’s acceptable to leave Havoc and Vengeance players in the dark for an entire raid tier.

We’ve seen classes get reworks while still getting communication and tuning in the lead-up. We’ve seen specs getting heavy changes and dev posts explaining what’s happening and why. A potential new spec shouldn’t mean total radio silence on the existing two specs that people have invested years into.

If we’re sacrificing a whole tier of updates for the possibility of a third spec, the least the devs could do is say that. A blue post acknowledging, “Hey, we’re focusing efforts elsewhere right now,” would go a long way in letting the DH community know we aren’t just forgotten.

Right now it feels like we’re being ghosted by the dev team while every other class gets attention, and “maybe a third spec” isn’t a good enough reason for that level of silence, especially with 11.2 being a major patch right before an expansion launch.

First time?

Nah, not the first time. Doesn’t mean it’s acceptable any time. Especially when every other class is getting love while DH mains get treated like a dusty expansion feature Blizzard can’t be bothered to maintain.

Try harder next time, champ.

I had to hesitate but I am inclined to agree and your insights reveal why you are a solid member of the WoW community.

Unfortunately dev silence is more the norm outside of the more popular specs, coming from rogue that’s basically expected. We didn’t get any mention of them changing the 2pc Trickster tier set in the most recent notes, and in the previous PTR cycle not a single bugfix was listed even though there were a half-dozen impactful ones that were found purely by going through the known bugs list and testing one by one to see what was fixed

It’s hard not to feel ignored though when you see blue posts communicating design decisions or upcoming changes/ideas for others so I def get that

I get where you’re coming from, and you’re not wrong that dev silence happens way too often. But just because it’s “normal” doesn’t mean it should be acceptable, especially in a patch this big before an expansion.

With two specs and two hero trees that still need tuning, and the community is constantly left guessing if we’re even on Blizzard’s radar. At least with your Rogue tier, you know it exists and it’s getting looked at, even if communication is lacking. We don’t even have that.

It’s not about “our silence is worse than your silence.” It’s about holding Blizzard accountable across the board to communicate with all classes, not just the popular ones. A one-sentence blue post can go a long way to show they even remember we exist.

preaching to the choir, I’d be thrilled with regular communication

Part of the frustration is that it feels like the devs don’t even look at these forums anymore. Instead, they go outside the player base for feedback, or sit in Discord lurking, hoping someone happens to say something useful there. Why is that?

Is it because the forums have turned into a cesspool of people like Beefsha making useless posts that contribute nothing of value while clogging actual discussion? Is it because this place is a giant bad-idea pool for class tuning, with every other thread being “rework my spec to be busted because I’m bad”? Or is it the constant belittling of the devs, calling them out to simply do their jobs?

Honestly, I don’t know. But it would be nice to get any kind of response here versus hoping that Discord or private friend circles are where feedback goes to die. This is the official platform for feedback, and it’s the one place where we should be getting communication, but instead it feels like we’re shouting into the void while Blizzard pretends we don’t exist.

In lieu of the complete lack of communication from Blizzard about Demon Hunters, I have to be honest: it really aggravates me that the only form of “communication” we get about our class comes from content creators like Voodoosaurus or Jedith, not from the devs themselves.

And let me be clear, no disrespect to them. I love both Jedith and Voodoosaurus for what they do for the DH community, and I’m subbed to both. They put in the time, they care about the spec, and they do their best to keep us informed. But it should not be their job to provide us with information about what is happening with our class heading into a new patch or expansion.

That should be Blizzard’s responsibility.

The fact that we have to watch a YouTube video to find out even a hint of what might be happening with DH going into 11.2 or Midnight is just sad. Content creators should be supplementing the conversation, not replacing it entirely because the dev team can’t be bothered to post a single blue comment letting us know what’s going on.

We’re not asking for full reworks overnight. We’re asking for basic communication so we don’t feel like we’re being left in the dark while every other class gets updates, tuning, and at least a sentence acknowledging their existence.

And honestly, if this is the state of communication, it begs the question:

Why even have these forums if no one at Blizzard actually takes the time to read them anymore? Is it just for PR so the player base feels like they have a voice while nothing actually gets seen? Is it just a place now for forum trolls to reign free without any moderation or meaningful discussion, drowning out the few people actually trying to provide constructive feedback for the game they care about?

If you want these forums to mean something, then use them. Because right now, it feels like we’re all wasting our time posting here while Blizzard’s eyes and ears are everywhere but here.

DH players deserve better.

The fact they didn’t even open official threads for the specs that got reworks (outside prot warrior) for feedback indicates they’re just kinda winging it

Why are you hating lol? There’s less than a month till the patch releases and they have announced every major feature going into the patch. I want some changes too but my spec got 0 this patch which means I’m waiting till 12.0 for anything

I’m not necessarily “hating” on you, Beefsha. I called you out because your response didn’t exactly come across as “hey, I’m just waiting for 12.0 like the rest of us.” It read more like an insulting or sarcastic jab at people who are frustrated, and yeah, that’s going to rub folks the wrong way.

We’re all in the same boat wanting changes, but tossing out a waiting room comment when people are asking for basic communication doesn’t really help the discussion. If your goal was to say, “Yeah, it sucks, I’m waiting too,” cool. But maybe phrase it that way next time so it doesn’t sound like you’re just dismissing people’s frustration for a cheap quip.

Can’t wait for Voidman spec to be released so blizz can up their ignored dh specs by 50%

True I am with you on that.

So that was clearly a meme reference but went over your head. Rogue receives even less communication from Blizzard than DH does. Your response is even more ironic considering i make multiple posts each patch cycle calling out Blizz for their lack of communication.

How would we know that?

Yeah, I got the meme, but you missed the point of the post.

This isn’t about Rogue vs. DH or who gets less communication. It’s about the fact that all classes deserve communication, not just the most popular ones. It’s not a competition for who’s being ignored harder it’s calling out Blizzard for a system-wide problem that affects all of us.

If you’re also making posts each patch cycle calling out Blizzard for silence, then we’re on the same page. But dropping a sarcastic “First time?” doesn’t exactly add to that conversation it just reads as dismissing the frustration people are expressing, even if that wasn’t your intent.

We all want better communication. That was the entire point.

Even if Rogue isn’t getting constant communication, your spec was still on the radar this patch cycle. You literally got class changes during either Week 1 or Week 2 of the PTR while DH got nothing. No tuning passes, no minor adjustments, no bugfix lists, no blue post acknowledgment, ust complete silence.

That’s the difference I’m pointing out. It’s not about who has it worse; it’s that all classes deserve communication and attention, and right now DH is getting neither while others, including Rogue, are at least getting something.

Look at the giant wall of text Blizzard made for Protection Warriors in 11.2 (source) as a perfect example of how it should be done: a full breakdown of what they’re changing, why they’re changing it, and what feedback they’re looking for from the community. That is what every class deserves, whether you play a Warrior, Rogue, DH, or anything else.

It’s not about who has it worse; it’s about accountability and consistency from Blizzard so that all classes get the communication they deserve. Right now, DH is getting none of that, and it’s a problem.
