I’ve tried everything in-game to fix this so that the char select column on the login screen does not cut off half of my 4th warband character to the farthest of the right.
The problem is, if I change the UI% in the game, it makes reading other aspects of the game quite grainy and unsharp etc…
This is especially annoying when hovering over spells to read a description, or the fonts in reputation bars.
There’s no way to change these as it’s tied to the UI% slider.
The default character selection column width is extremely large, along with the option/ESC menu in-game.

Reduce the size of everything. Why are the options so big now?

No idea what’s going on but it’s severely annoying.
I really hope they fix this or do something about it.

Agreed. I don’t have perfect eyesight but the menu/buttons are way too huge.
No reason for it not to be customizable

WHY did they have to change these sizes? the fonts, the everythings?

I’ve watched a few people on youtube and their character list seems smaller to the side, I guess in beta, but yeah, it cuts off our 4th alt, which is annoying. I’m sure it will get fixed…eventually.
Just give people the option to scale things. With my poor eyesight I am happy with the larger scale.

There is a button on the lower right side that minimizes the character list.
As for the selection button sizes they seem fine to me. I also like that they display some metadata about the characters now, like how much gold they have and their professions.

I’m not so sure…I really hope so.
There is the UI% scale in-game forever now, but it makes other non-customizable fonts etc…much smaller. So it will shrink the massive character login column and other UI aspects, but then the fonts on many other things in-game become small and grainy.
I know. That’s besides the issue though. It doesn’t stay perma-minimized each time you log in, and you need to open it to select different alts to log into.
Maybe you have a newer giant monitor, Idk. I’d post a screen grab but it wont let me do that here.
While I agree I’d love it if they gave us the option to shrink just the ESC menu and the character select menu I would be so sure they’ll do anything about it.
There are already several things they messed with and never gave us the option to change it. At this point I’ve had to make my own addons for hiding the showing number of open bag slot, the pop up window telling you about unspent knowledge, to turn off screen glow, and to hide NPCs healthbars over their heads. All things we use to have options for but they took away from no good reason.
Not to mention I had to search out a script to run to be able to turn off certain npcs on the mini map that they took away/hid from us like blacksmiths and such.
The best we can hope for is someone makes an addon to shrink them.

Agreed, they could cut it in half if they changed the size of the faction image and moved it next to the name or made it a backdrop image.

Bumping for visibility and because I am still largely annoyed and frustrated.

Agree totally. It’s huge and a bit ridiculous. Several UI elements are oversized. I’m not young anymore, but also not in need of 48pt fonts which look like giant-print books.
And a plea - an entreaty - please allow a scale-slider for the quest objectives on the right-side of the screen. I’d like to reduce to it by at least half of it’s current size.

Yup, +1 from me.
I can only see 5 characters at a time in the list. 4 favorites and 1 more. Then I have to scroll. It’s too large.
The options menu is also bigger now. That doesn’t bother me so much, but I did notice immediately.
I also want the Spec/Talent/Spellbook window to be smaller. I can acknowledge that I don’t open it that often when it’s not patch day, but it’s very big and just seems wrong when compared to all the others. The new Profession window was already big in Dragonflight, and this is now even bigger. I’d be fine if it was the same height as the Professional window (I don’t really care about the width - but it should be scaled down proportionally).

5?? I only see 4. The favorites, and that’s it. So annoying. Glad I don’t have a ton of toons. I’ve seen people talk about having more than 50, I can’t imagine what that must be like.

You can actually change this in the ‘Edit’ section in the options menu, along with the font size.
It’s massive it’s so ridiculous.
Really hope Blizz devs are seeing this and other threads.

Yeah honestly this is the only problem I have with the patch. There are several windows, buttons, and text that are just way too big now for sure. There should be an option to just scale the Blizz windows etc built in.
the character log in needs to be reverted. they can add a right click to favorite and unfavorite to set up to 4 toons to the new thing there is no better way to solve the mess they made of what was a perfect way to log into the game already
I think they just really forgot who they are selling this to. I actually have 8 characters on the screen - at 4K and 0.35 UI scale. These things work for me, but most people don’t put much money into WoW performance. Seems like a miss by their UI team.
But even if they fit, the lack of sufficient information on the filterable column is still bad design. Filter, sort by realms, and then mouse over characters afterwards? It’s not a good search experience. Even if it fits on the screen, barely.
I want it smaller than the smallest settings.
