Can we please buff tank aggro?

I have seen many many many times (at all skill levels, mind you) tanks losing threat even after a dps waits multiple seconds before hitting all their buttons and they get aggro ripped off the tank and the party starts getting one shot. This exists at a high level too with some of the best tank players on the planet…

Yes, bugs with VDH do exist and they should be fixed BUT why can’t all tanks just generate significantly more threat (like 10x or something) and when one mob of a set pack is pulled the threat table should apply to the entire pack as a whole so other players can’t rip one or two mobs from a multi-pack pull.

Is there an issue with this? Do we not want tanks to have aggro consistantly? There isn’t any skill in having major threat problems it literally only makes the experience worse and gets players to be toxic to one another because they don’t understand what is happening or if it is this person’s fault or that person’s fault.

PLEASE JUST LET US ENJOY THE GAME WE PAY FOR

Have you tried putting your misdirect ability on a keybind and using it on the tank?

I think that could help maybe

I am a VDH main.
Also, suggesting that is unbelievably ignorant to a very real issue. Not every group of 5 has a misdirect ability. Not a single group should HAVE to rely on such a thing.

Just put Bacon in the pockets of your tanks. If they eat it before pulling that’s on them. They should eat it afterwards as a prize for good tanking.

This is how better agro is had… monsters love bacon.

Nah man, it’s very reasonable to expect you to hold agro off people bursting to 50-70m DPS in the first few seconds of a pull

If threat generation is too high then tanks kiting comes back and we don’t want that.

this is, to me, the real problem. scaling is just crazy. dps goes PEWPEWPEW while tanks and healers continuously get nerfed or otherwise gimped.

I don’t know how any of these threat modifiers scale in actual mathematical terms, but it seems that tank threat needs to scale much more significantly than it does.

It’s a mess overall ATM

Buff tank threat too much and suddenly we got kiting meta back cuz the tank never needs to be in melee

But if we don’t increase it, DPS needs sizable nerfs in their burst numbers which will screw with all tubing

I think tank damage probably needs to come up a lot. Maybe tanks could get some damage added to their primary offensive cooldowns to scale better against the huge burst that dps are capable of this season.

Should misdirect and tricks both have zero value?

I’d rather we remove tanks and rebalance dungeons as if they don’t exist.

Stop having your DPS tunnel on a mob the tank is passively cleaving.

Attack what the tank is attacking for the first few GCDs and youll be golden

Play fel scarred spirit bomb and you have no threat issues.

You only need to play aldrachi reaver no bomb if your group needs your prio dmg to time the key.

Your group won’t need the extra prio dmg unless you are doing world first keys.

I think they need to remove the passive tank aggro damage thing and focus on tanks using their abilities to manage mobs and their aggro.

There’s no reason each tank shouldn’t have a fairly spammable AoE taunt-- It’s like a healer having heals.

Tank’s job is to take the damage, not deal the damage. And linking their taunt to their damage feels like a lazy way to deal with mob aggro.

If your getting aggro that’s your problem because there’s a high chance that you’re just bursting before the tank has a chance to hit more then one attack. If the tank is still moving, stop dpsing the mobs because they’re not done pulling yet. The more you dps while they’re moving the more threat you pull. DPS are so stuck on their stupid meters they can’t wait two seconds to make things explode. Don’t blame the tanks for your incompetence.

As a DPS yes please I am so bored of waiting for tanks to get aggro before I do anything fun. Using my ranged interrupt to pull in casters then just cc’ing is really boring I might as well be a healer at the start of the pull.

Lots of ignorant people here. Threat is an issue in higher keys. DPS are pulling threat from tanks 30 to 60 seconds into a pull.

If a dps blows their load in 1 sec and pulls threat, its a dps problem. Thats not the threat problem that people are talking about.

What are high keys? Only time I’m losing agro in 14-15s is when people burst while I’m still gathering. If they’re willing to wait for me to actually hit the groups I’m pulling then 40-50M dps is harmless. Never seen anyone sustain more than 60M through an entire pull either, and that’s been alright too.

There are times I think we need to do away with low/med/high keys and call them things like loot/vault keys (2-10), Achievement keys (11-12, for KSL and resil keys) and score keys (13+, when you are trying for score just on the chance of getting that slim % rating)

The thing is, what is a low key for some is a high key for others, and people have a tendency to think what is a high key for them is a high key for everyone.
