Can we not farm old raids by swapping chr invites?

I’m trying to farm Fandral’s Seed Pouch. The most recent note on Wowhead suggests the old school method of creating a raid on Chr1, logging onto Chr2, logging back to Chr1 and accepting the invite, logging back to Chr2 to enter the cleared raid.

The note is current to this expansion.

But I just tried it and it doesn’t work. When I create a Legacy Raid on Chr1, I can see the green eyeball for LFG on the bottom of my screen. But when I log out of Chr1, as the timer ticks down to 0, in that tick between 1 and 0, I can see the green eyeball go away. The game is cancelling the LFG.

And sure enough, when I log onto Chr2, my group isn’t there.

Both chrs are Horde. Both are WM off. Nothing else about the raid group is restricted. The real tell is that when Chr1 logs off, the LFG icon goes away. This “trick” doesn’t seem possible.

What am I missing?

Because the character that made the LFG logged out.

Why are you doing this method to begin with? Why not just run through Firelands solo until you get it?

Group doesn’t cancel when you log out I literally do this every week multiple times you have like 5 minutes

The way that should/used to work is that the group would still exist, it would just so that person as “offline.”

Which is what allows the whole thing to work.

Chr2 is supposed to apply, you log back in to Chr1 and accept.

The reason you do things like this is clearing to Majordomo one ONE chr isn’t so bad.

…now try doing it on 50.

I thought there was a skip to Majdormo now? The orb at the start or the gateway thing

I’m telling you, it does. I just did this like 8 times in a row, trying different iterations to get it to work.

Each time I log out, the LFG eyeball goes away. It’s cancelling the group every time I log out.

I thought there was a skip to Majdormo now?

You have to clear up to that point to use it. Which… a fresh alt won’t have. The whole point of this trick is to clear the first 5 bosses, so every other alt doesn’t have to.

But don’t you just cut your chances for the pouch to drop?

wut? lol no. You’re leaving the boss up that drops the item. So every alt is killing JUST THE ONE boss they need.

Instead of clearing the entire raid just to get to that one boss.

This doesn’t work anymore. They killed it. At least in the old way people used to do it.

Just seems odd that the note is current, and even someone in this thread is saying they use it for other raids.

Like… was it JUST CHANGED, like a week ago? lol

I’ve not heard anything about this. But I generally don’t farm old raids this way.

It was changed not very recently but not like a long time ago. People used to use this to farm LK and other raid mounts, but yea, it doesn’t work. There is another very, very convoluted way to do it but after reading it I figured it might take as long as just running through and doing the raid normally.

I just did it to see if there was an undocumented change, it worked. I started a group in custom groups called “personal mount,” on my Druid. Logged over to my DK and it was at the top of my list, so I joined, hopped back over to my Druid and upon logging it asked if I wanted to list or delist. I chose list and the group was still there in finder so I invited my DK. Lastly hopped over to my DK an accepted the invite. Took about 2 minutes because they weren’t in a rested zone to log out.

I will say the message popping upon when I got back to my main asking I wanted to list or delist is new, so maybe something changed but it still works

Ah so Firelands didn’t get the account wide skip like Sepulcher and newer raids got, that’s pretty lame maybe soon.

Well, Firelands never had even a personal skip.

Sepulcher did, which is why it was relatively fast to make it account wide.

Although, from what I hear, you might be able to use the feathers on Alysrazor to fly to Rag, skipping the other bosses (note that this does require you to not 1shot Alysrazor before she casts feathers).

I also through you could just transmog into fire cat if you have the staff… which is a much higher drop rate I think. Or am I confusing things? All I know is my Druid can choose fire form at the barber shop

This is why this thread exists. lol

This is even mentioned in the Wowhead article. Giving further credibility to the fact this SHOULD work.

I’m not doing this for the Cat, I already have it. Just trying to get the Seed Pouch toy “to have it.”

i think they broke this method of farming back in dragonflight season 1 or shadowlands.

I always thought that doing stuff like this required logging into the second character while the first one was still logging out. As in, not waiting for the 20 seconds to tick down, but closing the game immediately, then re-opening it and switching to the other character before that 20 second timer would’ve expired. That way the first character is still technically ‘online’ when the second one logs in. Or do I have that all wrong?

This thread should really be in the bug forums, since it works for some of us and not for you or others there must be something going on.

The best guess is you have an addon that blocks it or I have an addon that assists keeping groups open without even realizing it. Plumber and/or Leatrix would be my best guess do you use those? Or can you try it while using those to see if they keep it open for you.

You don’t have to do that, although that method makes it a little quicker by forcing the closeout and it is actually required to “solo” the blood queen quest in ICC for Shadowmourne.

I don’t do it that way normally though as I am afraid two dozen quick logouts like that may flag my account or something.
