Not even going to bother with people replying with some crap excuse, it’s an old adage to a time well past and it would be much better to just have it inside.
“I’m not even going bother with people that disagree with me”. That’s a nice stance to take when making a thread.
Summoning stones are already placed within a few feet of the instance, with the exception of Tempest Keep. So really, it would be a waste of time and resources to do this.
Yes please since they obviously dont care enough to fix phasing around them. Neltharus, Vortex Pinnacle, DoTI all had/have phasing issues.
Oh look, someone with common sense pointing out legit reasons to move the summon stones.
And to add that if you are in a horde/alliance group the nameplates don’t show correctly, plus Warmode just to add to it all.
Ok, I’m going to chime on this with some speculative thoughts. There might be a few logistical problems with this.
An instance is created to be temporary and the programming of the stone inside the instance would mean that when an instance is created a stone has to also be created like a permanent Warlocks closet. This could cause unforseen coding issues where a character could be locked to a specific instance. Meaning they clear it, and then they can’t zone into the same or other instances due to a programming glitch.
There may be some programming issues with putting a Stone inside the instance because it has a permanent connection outside the instance, the instance may remain because the stone may be preventing it from closing instead of completely erased which would be like filling up a server with empty instances and causing a major crash.
When the original WOW devs built the system, they expected a linear progression through the world, not what it has become today, and so programmed the underlying functionality of the code to be rigid and not very flexible in terms of changes like this.
For those thinking, but you can put a Lock closet in an instance. A Lock closet creates a temporary connection between two places in the Warcraft Universe not a permanent one.
tldr: It may not be feasible from a programming standpoint with the current build.
I do hope they rebuild the foundational code to be more flexible and the art team revisits the world as a whole though. Perhaps this might be a future change, but for now, a Lock Closet is necessary.
Is this a warmode complaint thread?
So, place a switch inside each instance that acts exactly the same as lock closet, but only needs 2 people, hell, can even be nice and only need one person to start summoning. That way one person can show up, activate as temporary summon stone that despawns after 2 minutes and can be resummoned at any time.
No, and yes, I just ran a few DoTI dungeons and what can happen is one person can be in warmode, but then one person has not done the opening quest chain, another has not done the quest chain and is in warmode, you now have 4 people at the instance and neither of them can see each other.
And apparently (because I forget these things) there are other instance that are the same, if you are on a different quest chain you get sharded differently while outside the same instance.
You have just killed the entirety of the purpose of the Warlock Class. Thank you. LMAO
I’m only kidding. Their pets are cute too.
I say give more classes the ability to make summoning stones.
I’m a warlock. I can say this!
The phasing outside of the Dawn of the Infinite is so wonky. I think at least for that one the stone should be inside.
Yeah, that is not how making a thread works.
Bad Warlock!
If only you had tried to do that in the OP, instead of being obstinate from the get go. But I guess Aka gonna Aka on a Sunday.
Even better, give us “Have Group, Will Travel” back! Don’t allow it to be used in opposing faction or contested areas, only allow guild members to be summoned, and only in dungeons and raids. Then, the lock portal can be used anywhere, but only require one person to create the closet and summon.
Turn off war mode?
What you’re actually requesting is a fix to phasing, which might be a better way to approach the issue as this would help with other issues in the game as well.
Locks got one, i think
Or people could just fly to the instance and stop expecting others to get there first and summon them. It’s not that hard and it doesn’t take that long.
no, the stones are fine where they are.
I can’t get to Throne of Tides on my own. Unless you’d like me to hyperventilate and have an anxiety attack over the deep water whirlpool.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I don’t have an issue with summoning stones just as they are and for every other instance, my bum is flying there.
But I cannot get to Throne of Tides with my thalassophobia.
the timeways ports should drop you off near the stone - it does for all the other dungeons
