It’s like moving from a rural town to NYC. You don’t recognize people, you don’t form rivalries, there is no server-wide reputation, etc. This is a problem in an MMO, especially an old school like classic WoW which people wanted in large part for the original community feel.
a 5-6k faction balanced server has community. It’s not as tight knit as say a 3-4k server, but not so large is losing the community elements mentioned above.
Then those guilds all agree to join the same new realm broken up from the mega realm?
Then why do these players Roll on a PvP server,. It cant be for battlegrounds, you can join that from any server pve or pvp. So why join a pvp server if no one likes open world pvp? That used be something you would hear/read in chatter Oh i miss the good ol days of open world pvp, oh the south shore battles were epic blah blah, so im assuming the people saying that and joining that chatter was just full of #%$@? Or was open world pvp only fun before tbc?
It’s probably just a holdover from back in the day when it was a gamer flex to say you played on a PvP server. They didn’t want to called a carebear by their peers.
Server populations have shown over and over that people largely don’t want it. I think that there is only one balanced PvP server for TBCC.
I think that if people actually wanted wPvP that PvP servers wouldn’t become de facto PvE servers.
Can someone kindly explain to me why people who don’t like Wpvp are on pvp servers? We have so many pve servers to choose from. Because it screws the players who do like wpvp and limits them to one server for a decent pop.
Yep I think that is it 100% which was part of my 1st post, its bragging rights, so they can tell their friends one day. I am 100% badass I leveled/raided/fished on a PvP server. Well I know this wouldnt happen regardless but wanted to get a vibe by starting the topic im sure there was other topics like this from other people who enjoy world pvp. But as i read i noticed not many like or enjoy wpvp, just enjoy the title of being on a pvp server
I think Wpvp is mostly dead in a manner when two groups of equals will fight each other. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, I just think it’s rare. WPVP today just means that a rogue is lurking outside a quest hub looking to gank a lowby. That’s why nobody is really into it anymore.
No think its more like a rogue waits for you to attack a mob, and when your health is about half way to quarter left they go in for the kill shot. But I enjoy that environment or i did.
Its still a bad idea. Also World PVP is the most over-hyped thing in the history of WOW. It’s never really existed, when it does it’s mostly bad… and the VAST majority of players don’t care about it at all until it stops them from doing what they’d rather do for an extended period of time.
Back in classic there was a ally rogued perma camped by the battlemasters in Org would would constantly kill anyone who left the building. He probably died 100 times a day, but he was a fixture all through classic.
Getting smacked around while out questing is one thing, but when someone has the dedication to camp a city for a year… that’s kind of where wpvp is in a nutshell.
Bene is twice the size of firemaw and we have thousands more than that online at any given moment, and I havent seen a queue in almost a year. So I dunno what they’re doing in the EU but queues are no longer a thing on US servers… and since these are the US forums…
No the better solution is to offer people on both of these servers a free transfer to some other realm that needs them. The people and guilds who self-select to make a move can then do so.
Maybe they can offer a small incentive to help rebalance the servers to people willing to move. They HAVE to set caps on these servers though. You shouldn’t be allowed to transfer to, or make a new character on the faction that is currently overpopulated by more than 10 or 15%.
