I gotta be honest this is going to make mistweaver so boring to remove this for me. I feel like Secret Infusion really adds a lot of strategy to mistweaver currently and removing it is just… no fun.
I’d prefer a full revert to the good days, but considering how mistweaver on alpha is actually in the exact same untouched state as day 1 of alpha 3 months ago…
Oh yea, and some dev actually asked 3 days ago about what monk old traits/sets/legendaries we’d like to see return.
literally 3 days ago, god… nice way to show they haven’t thought about monk whatsoever all this time
this basically means we’re not getting a fancy blue post for like another month at least, great.
SI baseline would actually make focused thunder* a fun talent if it was allowed to proc stats on both charges.
I’ve been holding out hope that maybe they haven’t released much on monk because they know it needs to be such a big overhaul that it should be tested as a single package. Alright, that’s all the humor I can muster…
*Has anyone ever actually been excited to pick this talent? I mean, I know it is used— I have to open up my talent pane and click it whenever I need to cap arena for the week— but it kinda feels like its really not changing anything other than the fact that I’ll take a little bit longer to go OOM.
I said this like 2 months ago! Roll Secret Infusion into Focused Thunder talent. No1 ever listens to Pyro!
Secret infusion baseline and SI+FT as a single talent are two different things though. I think that keeping them separate allows more power to be put into the SI effect, which in turn would make stacking it with FT even more rewarding. And it would do this while mitigating a potential disparity between a single talent that gives a boatload of stats (smells mandatory to me, when secondaries become sufficiently strong) vs two that give none OR the case we have now where FT doesn’t give multiple SI procs and feels pretty bleh because of it.
I would put it all in the FT talent because right now FT is boring. FT right now can’t really be balanced because its either 3 or 2. There is no 2.5 or anything in between. The talent will always be OP or underpowered as is. This is why adding Secret Infusion to the talent would allow it to become balance-able.
FT is so boring why would you not want the devs to change it? Add some spice to the game.
I mean we are the red headed stepchild of wow
Because if SI was baseline and FT triggered on both uses, FT would suddenly be pretty strong.
The end result of splitting it would literally be the same as rolling them together, EXCEPT that players who choose rising mist or upwelling also get to have some SI fun carry over. As it is, TFT is incredibly boring without SI. If you aren’t playing SI, there is no strategic choice, no change to the feeling of your gameplay, no discernible feeling of a “boost” that should come from a cd. If you play SI (and if you add SI as baseline in Shadowlands) all of that changes. Even in the worst case where you still don’t think about it (e.g. just use it on every ReM for raiding with Rising Mist), you at least feel a big boost mashing it on CD and getting a chunk of stats.
Probably a bit of an odd question and a bit of a devil’s advocate position,
but assuming a similar implementation to Glimmer of Light becoming a talent
would SI still be as interesting a choice when it’s only providing 800-900 rating compared to 2400?
Do we even have sets that would work anymore?
Yea, a bunch would work, there are some very bland sets out there
Though if there’s a tier set that comes back for mw, it’ll be extend life. It’s really the only iconic mw tier set since the class’s release.
Obviously, the extend life mechanic is quite literally the current vivify mechanic, since our renewing mists never duplicate on other targets, so it would have to be slightly reworked. Not impossible considering they did it for the few datamined legendaries that are tier-set-inspired so far.
It would be > 0 (0 being the current level of excitement TFT brings w/o SI). Another important point is that the environment of BfA forces things like 2400 stat rating to feel like it’s doing something. You have 800 - 1200 secondary stat procs flying around, 1500-3000 main stat procs coming in and out non stop. Because of the absurdity of stat levels, 2400 feels good, and 800 feels meh.
With the resquish and (being hopeful here) departure from BfA’s “you get a proc! YOU get a proc! EVERYONE GETS A PROC!” a baseline 10-20% boost (maybe 20-40% with focused thunder? or 2x 20% double stats) on a 30 second timer would feel good and give you decisions to make.
If not baseline SI, then TFT needs at least a rethink on its mega bland effects.
It should be percentage based maybe based off your gear somehow. If it was 800 with current gear it would be worthless. The thing would have to scale or we would ignore it’s stat boost in strategic situations.
Right now in like bursting situations I’ll make sure to get the mastery bonus as I start to spam people up for a ton of extra bonus healing. I TFT->env the tank before I ess font in raids. If I’m going to get smashed by some unavoidable mechanic I’ll TFT->RSK… SI really adds a lot to mistweaver. Funnily enough I think I use TFT-RM the least with SI but when SI is gone TFT-RM is the only logical choice. It loses it’s situational usage and just becomes TFT-RM every time…
IDK if it matters though I don’t think blizz cares enough about monks which is why I’m gearing my resto druid and holy paladin for shadowlands ):
