I’m really sorry if I’m late to the party and there’s some glyph that we can use, but back when I played in Legion, I refused to take Ascendance because of how absolutely hideous it was. Why on earth would we turn into something like that?
I don’t mind the concept of it visually but the animations are hideous for sure and I really don’t like the odd stance that the model takes when your idle or how the running/walking animation moves like you are a hulking 2 ton gurubashi troll.
Yes for such and epic ability (our end tier talent) it looks super average…
I think that’s being very generous. It looks pretty bad. Both the model and the animations. I skipped WoD, but I saw some old youtube vids of a glyph that looked much better. Shame they removed the glyph.
…They removed a glyph that made it look better? Jeez Louise!
Yeah, this looks so much better than the current model.
You turn into an ascendant because it’s a spell called ascendance. Didn’t realize that needed explaining…
Do you realize how stoked we Shamans were for us to change into ascended beings when this spell was first introduced in Cata? To say Shamans were frothing at the mouth to use it as often as possible is an understatement. Even by today’s standards the model could use a graphical update sure, but it by no means is bad or average.
It was added in MoP. We were frothing for the dps it provided, not its “good looks” lol. If you like the model, cool. But it doesn’t hurt to add glyphs for people who don’t want to look like an actual monstrosity of shamanism that always holds the weapon wrong (looking at you, fist of Ra-Den!!)
MoP Ascendance’s stormblast: An ability so awesome that just nerfing it’s damage wasn’t enough. They had to destroy the animation as well.
I’d agree with you if it wasn’t an ability that was baseline and then made into a talent.
Talents should “feel” epic. (Example Primal Elementalist) Tossing an old baseline ability in the fray and not updating it, or allowing a glyph for something cosmetic is lazy.
Now is the time to update shaman Ascendance
