Can we have more privacy in forums to feel more safe?

While anonymity on the internet indeed has its drawbacks, but it also provides essential benefits. For instance, it allows marginalized individuals to express themselves freely without fear of reprisal, fostering a more inclusive digital space. This is also game forums. That you need subcription to post.

Yep. More or less everyone on the forums already knows and says that, except forā€¦ Maybe three people who might just be the same person in their delusions. When presented with all of the evidence (be it from personal experiences or scientific case studies on the subject) they simply dismiss it ā€œbecause their idea good idea that makes them feel safe.ā€ Because someone who does nothing but spam totally knows better than decades of research, let alone common sense.

Just no.

This is as you say a game forums. What marginalization do you have? Is there a crew who are anti Night Elf? Keep your posts regarding the game and the aspects of the game, and keep your personal life/views and ideas off the forums. This isnā€™t the place for it.

Not every aspect of the world, gaming communities etc. need to foster to your views/ideas. There is a place for everything, and this is not it.

Personal attacks will happen no matter what shape or form you put a forum in.

thank you. i disagree. People want more security and privacy. And for instance, overwatch2 already implemented something similar just in-game. People can hide their names, because blizzzard overwatch aknowledged such problems like stalking and harassment.

If it has to foster and support your ideas, it is (by definition) suppressing the ideas of everyone who disagrees with you.

Let me fix that for you, since this is what youā€™re really requesting.

Nothing? Everything?

People shouldnā€™t feel obligated to share everything about themselves lest someone, such as yourself, judge them for things they hadnā€™t even done yet.

A person can want privacy, OP excluded, Iā€™d wager.

Well, people already have privacy. OP wants a free pass to troll without anyone knowing they were the one trolling all along. Which is strange, because they keep trolling by posting the same threads on the same character.

Iā€™m not defending OP, theyā€™re probably trolling.

But the idea that people wanting privacy are actually trying to hide somethingā€¦ is not very smart.

Every thread gets a ton of replies, no reason to stop.

Another great example of why we need btags/account wide ignore that auto muted threads created by ignored people.

If heā€™s posting these on the same character, how would battle tags help this?

I heard Final Fantasy is getting a forum re-work and how theirs is set up, we should have something exact as that.

Btags should also allow the account wide ignore part

Iā€™m not for or against either idea, personally. I just donā€™t think theyā€™ll be super helpful.

Account wide ignores would probably be a good feature for some people, to be fair.

Nothing is super helpful, but anything that can tone down some of the behaviour would be better than nothing.

The ultimate privacy option is to not post at all. That way nobody can figure out anything about you.

Other than a couple groups of trolls who attack from time to time in here, the forum is just fine as it is.
NO ONE is unsafe in here. The hyperbole doesnt help deal with the issues this forum does have, which are laughably minor compared to just about any other forum on the web.

Moderation does a good job dealing with it regardless of hyperbolic claims otherwise by a few in here.

If you see a thread you dont like, theyve given you the muteā€¦its on YOU to use it.
If you see a poster you dont like, theyve given you the ignoreā€¦its on YOU to use it.
If you see a post that violates the rules, theyve given you the flag. USE it.
If you CHOOSE to NOT use those tools, thats on you.

REgardless, however, you are NOT unsafe on this forum.

Being able to check someoneā€™s information is a really good tool for determining credibility of what people post; Like when someone talks about how easy high end content is you can turn around and look at their Achievements and go ā€œUhhhā€¦ you havenā€™t gotten KSM ever so how the heck would you know what a +20 looks like?ā€ or ā€œThe only heroic boss you have down with your AotC is Fyrakk so how are you in a position to comment on what raiding actually looks like?ā€

thank you for posting. thoughtful insights.
