If we had first and last names for our characters, a lot of name availability would be opened up. Is this possible?

No last names. That’s too limiting and not all races have last names.
We should have a choice of one space, apostrophe or hyphen. That covers last names for those that want them and also gives others options to finally use the different naming conventions that exist for NPCs.

What about adding spaces within our names so we can chose to have a last name?

This is where us roleplayers shine.
Many others won’t have it if you’re on a non-RP server, but Total RP 3 will help.

I despise having my TRP not match my actual character name. It’s not really a solution so much as a means of expanding on what’s already there for those on RP realms. (like you mentioned, it’s kinda pointless if you’re not on an RP realm since itll just be you seeing it)

Given the way they are changing the very foundations of the game, I would have to say:
Yes, it is a possibility.
The real question is:
How much in time and resources would it cost and could that be balanced with profit created directly from it?
I’d even be happy if we were allowed to use a second capital letter.
Isn’t that was I said? Or do you mean be able to use a hyphen or apostrophe AND a space?
I’m totally cool with that. I just don’t want Blizz to do forced last names, where it’s not a space and it’s actually a last name. It’s too restrictive.

Having last names or hyphens or ’ would make sense but we all know anything that makes sense is generally against the policies of most companies. Blizz imcluded

The reason why, yes.
If people want to have last names, then they simply should start using the addon Total RP3.
The purpose isn’t so much to “have a last name” as it is to be able to (visibly) name our characters what we want to name them. If we can throw a surname on the end, it frees up a ton of options for normal sounding names that would otherwise be taken.
TRP doesn’t suffice. People want to be seen by their name. Most players don’t run TRP3.
