Not sure if this has been addressed yet, but if not, I think this would be great for both groups. No matter how many switch fully to anniversary or tinker between both, if they overlap in battlegrounds it will give both sets of players more people to play with. None of the changes being mentioned for anniversary realms are so game-changing that they would create disparity amongst the characters in both.
Something to think about, and curious what other people think as well. As someone who plans to stay on era, I would like to have more people to run battlegrounds with and to play against.
This happens all the time on era now. Plenty of T3/R14 geared characters, plenty of fresh 60s in greens. All this would do is offer a larger pool of players on all era and anniversary servers to play with. Shorter queues are good for all.
I’ll just agree to disagree with you. I’d be fine with restricting premade sizes to address your concern, but I still don’t think gear imbalance would be a huge issue. Players from all classic servers would be playing together and against each other so it should mostly take care of itself.
If games stay active on era and become active on anniversary it may not be needed, but I hope it is something that could be considered in the event that the new servers split the existing player base to the point that games are scarce in one or the other.
Thanks both for helpful and not insulting replies, I appreciate it. As an era player, I was thinking it would be helpful (admittedly, likely more to era) to have a greater pool of players for battlegrounds. I am assuming that era play will take a significant hit when anniversary launches, although I am hoping not of course.
While gear imbalance may or may not be a big deal, I could see the “magic” element from the anniversary realm perspective as being an issue in those first weeks/months of ranking. Maybe then if not immediately (to satisfy both the gear and magic concerns), perhaps sometime down the road (post-Naxx release, pre-TBC) it might be considered, if finding games are an issue on either realm type. Hopefully by then both realm types will be healthy enough in BGs that it won’t matter.
We had a tasted of this in tbcc then wrath classic of sorts so…no.
In tbcc and wrath and you pushed to break out of the 60 bracket to see 61 to 71. Twinks full naxx including corrupted ashbringer, and not on your side, to me made level 60 mixed bg’s suck. Massively.
You didn’t say let them win! because you were a quiter. You said that since winning was not even a choice.
Once Naxx and such were sealed, and no one was running it for unlocked stuff…the 60 twinks were sitting pretty.
Wow pvp is too gear dependent for this the tl;dr. Only retail ever solved this issue. For a limited time pvp event. The 15th Anniversary KAV.
All stats normalized, all gear normalized. the only thing a 119 had over a 61? a full talent tree from being 119.
