Its a straight forward question. I think it would be cool to have achievements for classic. It doesn’t affect game play at all, and can give people a reason to play the game and do things they would of otherwise never done. Achievements can help keep the world feeling that much more lively, with people traversing the world doing random objectives. While im at it barber shops would also be a great thing to have in the game. Am i the only one wishing these harmless non game changing things were in the game?

This has been asked before and answered by Blizzard. They said the reward for playing Classic is that you get to play Classic. Achievements will remain a retail thing.

In Classic, you remember your achievements. In Retail, the game remembers it. That pretty much sums up the difference.

I remember my achievements regardless, for me its about being able to show off the achievements to other people

I don’t know why people need to keep asking for the same thing. If you bothered to search, you’d see threads about this that aren’t even a week old. The answer is no. Achievements were not in classic. Back then, you wore your achievements. Items you got from bosses were proof you killed them. You did not need “points”.

There are achievements in Classic. You just don’t have a UI for them. If you need that sort of validation, have a friend make a google spreadsheet for you and you can go check em off when you finish one. If your friend really loves you, they’ll use conditional formatting so it turns green when you complete it.

Where did this “as long as it doesn’t affect game play” stipulation come from? So many people come here suggesting all these dumb unauthentic changes saying “well it doesn’t affect game play so it should be okay”.
I can spend all day thinking up all kinds of crap to change that “wouldn’t affect game play”. Recreating vanilla is about preserving all of it.

This is a terrible idea. Ever since achievements were implemented in WoW during the last patch of TBC, the game has gone downhill and has become more toxic because you didn’t get an achievement before someone else. Achievements have been used to arbitrarily exclude people from content. Let’s leave Classic alone as is.
