Been working through older content for achievements, and there are some things that are way too fussy to do as a max level rogue, and one of those is starting fights without killing who or whatever you’re fighting with.
There are some toys that work sometimes, like the foam sword works out doors, but not in dungeons or raids. The fruit basket toy works sometimes (only tested in Legion dungeons so far). The battle horn toy works if you’re in whatever the right zone is. Whole Body Shrinks works SOMEtimes.
Sometimes you have to take off most or all of your gear but even then you might punch something to death too quickly for a mechanic to take effect making the achievement unachievable.
So it would be good if we could have a taunt to allow us to start fights when soloing old content. These could be a core ability, a talent (it would need to be on the rogue tree, and not on the spec trees), a toy (would would let other no-taunt classes use it as well), whatever. Some ideas off the cuff:
- “Nyah Nyah” - makes a mocking gesture of some kind (finger to lower eyelid & sticks out tongue?), fights starts.
- “pst pst” - (Thank you, guildie Crazyboi) gesture is placing an open vertical hand to the side of the mouth and nose gesture, fight starts. If implemented through a toy, the toy could have a 10% chance of summoning a cat or feral druid instead of starting the fight. If the cooldown was 15 seconds it might stay funny.
- foam sword toy is tweaked so it works everywhere, including dungeons and raids (probably the easiest).
- Whole Body Shrinks currently has a cooldown of 30 minutes, which could be cut to 5 minutes or something more reasonable.
So! Rogues! Do you agree a taunt function of some kind would be good? Do you like any of these ideas, or do you imagine something else? Who knows? Maybe one day we’ll get one.
