Can we GUT mage?

Most broken class in the game and needs to be completely gutted. No melee in the game can fight back against a mage. (even feral mains complain about frost thats how you know its bad)
If mages are only using block as a trinket because they know they are literally immortal against everything maybe we should nerf their mobility and survivability?

There’s actually so much arms-race-mobility that has turned into super weird power creep rock-paper-scissors balancing that has just made the game pretty crazy over the past couple years.

Right now mage is fundamentally unkillable by melee which on its own is an inherent problem.

However, outside of that vaccuum, it’s made some classes have wild tunings like how fury warrior basically can’t lose to a shadow priest by just doing an M+ rotation because it has to do damage when it connects to mages which just makes everything between those two mobility extremes get dunked on by all the aformentioned classes.

I think we need to move away from more “hard counters” and start looking at pruning mobility and then tuning survivability as a result in pvp.

Completely gutting a class is an overreach at best. It’s an ebb and flow.

Blizzard has 20 years of balancing history to reference, and it seems as though they don’t, because each expansion is unique so far as player power is concerned.

That said, I’m playing Fury, and while I do have some trouble staying on top of a Mage, it’s still possible to kill them as melee.

i think nerfing master of time and gutting the rng root procs would be a massive start

It’s not, frost mage should be made unplayable until they can do a rework.

No offense man but you are playing against mages that don’t have half of their kit keybound and suffer from anxiety attacks anytime a meele gets within 5 yards of them.

They should at least nerf their roots if they don’t want to nerf anything else. The amount of control they have + insane mobility and damage is too much for one spec to have.

They’re not going to make a spec unplayable for any length of time just because of PvP.

Warriors really can’t handle not countering every single spec in the game, huh?

I guess you should just auto win by right clicking the opponent like you do to every other caster

I’m not complaining that warrior has a natural predator keeping the population in check and stopping them from infesting the ladder like the invasive little baby roaches they are.

Mage counters (sp, lock, hunter, feral, shaman) should actually counter mages to keep them in check. But warriors deserve nothing

Agree but I don’t think pruning the game has ever made it more fun. If they’re gonna remove anything, imo it should be precog, but they should do things like make magic damage not break roots at the same time. This way you can shift more of slippery caster’s damage into casted abilities but give them class-based tools to get them off every once in a while without having to fake cast with melee in your face. I feel like everyone’s tuning could be fairer with changes to systems instead. Balance can exist more on a spectrum.

Damage should definitely break roots.

for most of the casters to make it without precog and also rely on more casted damage, they’d need another mechanic in place to get damage off

Doing magic is always not good.

Think about this being a warrior in real life is okay being a “mage” usually means ur up to no good
