So can we get some of them decent cinematic ya had in bfa? It’s like the only good thing we e had (except season 1 PvP in SL)
Tired of the Walmart cheap cinematic! Give us those super awesome tasty cgi ones!!

1: expensive
2: has to be planned way in advance because of how long it takes to make them
“How dare the cinematic team try to improve on their ingame cutscenes and having them be better then ever! They should just waste the game development’s money on crapply compressed overly edited CGI scenes that doesn’t look like Warcraft at all and looks like some sort of E3 CGI teaser video that shows no actual gameplay!”
How much of the standards of the WoW community needs to be lower?.. This is not the 1990’s any more, and we don’t need to keep using the pointless CGI cutscenes. They’ve shown they can improve, and all the “community” wants them to do is stagnate. THat being, they want the art to be the dang same with the generic slop of “pHoTorEaLisM” as you seen in countless ubisoft open worlds and other games that don’t have creative or any art styles that makes it stand out.
they had to let some of the team go because you insisted on them getting payed a living wage so… we pay the price.
They contracted like 40 minutes of professional film grade cinematics for BFA and they lost half the players. They contracted the same quality of cinematic for the Shadowlands launch and they lost 90% of the players. There’s not a lot of correlation between cinematic quality and how much people enjoy the product. I hate cinematics so much I am spamming escape to try and not even see the first frame when I think one is about to happen. MMOs aren’t supposed to have stories laid out like Saturday morning cartoons.
better than ever but at the same time more flat and low energy than ever
…And why is that? Because they aren’t running at 30 fps and compressed?
I really dig all the advancements in making ingame cutscenes since Shadowlands, and i want Blizzard to actively expand on this, because it looks so much better then the pre-rendered and CGI stuff even.
WoW’s art style looks pretty dang good, and it’s a shame it’s just going to waste on generic photorealistic CGI or pre-rendered cutscenes. Yet people like this.
What kind of horrible logic is that? That just proves companies are more evil then ever and a good union is the best antidote for it!
Both SL and Dragonflight has 10 min of actual cinematics. BfA had 20. On the flip side we probably have gotten a tone of ingame rendered cinematics and for the most part a good chunk of them are actually nice!
Same, lately on some mog runs i have encountered some old un-skippable ones, they incredibly annoying and for some inexplicable reason much louder than the rest of the game.
One rooted in reality, mostly. Budget cuts lead to quality cuts. and management sees quantity more valuable than quality - always.

Next cutscene will be a Star Wars text crawl.
No

This might be the worst take I’ve seen all month, lol.
i mean theres no action the last time there was action was what, bfa
now the npcs talk super slow as if we the viewer are dumb

Prior to BFA, both ingame cutscenes and pre-rendered ones have plenty of action in, alongside with ones where it’s just talking. As Games typically do.
You would know that if you’ve actually watched any of the cutscenes in this game… Which this next line from you, proves you don’t.
now the npcs talk super slow as if we the viewer are dumb
They have always been like that since Wrath. What are you talking about?
Exactly, what’s your problem with WoW’s art style that you prefer generic boring photorealism? I mean why play WoW at that point?
So can we get some of them decent cinematic ya had in bfa?
What is this current trend of terrible comparisons? The word “decent” and “BfA” don’t remotely belong together for cinematics.
1: expensive

To expand on this: Rumor has it that the Shadowlands story was extensively rewritten late in the process, so late that the rendered scene would no longer make any sense. And there was not enough time left to recook it.
I would not be shocked to see a return of those scenes in 11.0. They’re still expensive to produce, of course, but they add enough to the experience to make a decent business case.
Yeah I think they blew a lot of the budget with those cutscenes in bfa
There were SO MANY in that expansion
since wrath? wrathgate? the best cinematic wow ever had and the action and talking was fast paced
I kind of agree
I watched a cutscene the other day of Alexstrazsa talking with Kalecgos and Nozdormu and they can’t even turn their heads
The whole upper half of their body turns and their claws/feet clip into the floor.
Like come on, surely we can do better than that?
I don’t need a movie quality scene but it would be nice if there wasn’t obvious immersion breaking graphical issues.
