with the Phase 4 being 2 weeks away, I would kindly ask if there are any thoughts on if Pennance with be consolidated into Wild Growth?
OCE has such a low pop to begin with and it was sad a month ago, its sadder today. I do not have high hopes that Phase 4 will bring back many people.
Really I want to know if I should consider rerolling or not because I dont want to waste the next 2 weeks leveling a character to have Blizzard force us to move anyway.
It is fast to reach 50. If that was all that was involved i am sure that many people from penance would have done so. Unfortunately , it is not so fast to do alot of the other things associated with a character, such as runes, rep grinds, pvp ranks, max professions and gold accumulation. For that reason, if they donāt help Penance server, i fear it will inevitably die. But lets face it, with the tiny number of players there currently, it is not something they would be concerned about. It is all about the dollars, and a small amount of players is not alot of dollars. It is the reason they dont even acknowledge there is a problem on Penance, they just want us to be silent and fade away.
There are four large guilds who have collective hope we will be merged and not lose months of friends, frenemies and progress on our characters. Complete re-rolling is going to cause most to simply just quit.
Larger servers than ours have been merged and given new life. We welcome any action, being forced into pvp to make one OCE worthwhile server, or playing on US servers with Wild Growth, anything is better than a server where there are less than 100 active players at peak time.
Yeah, this is the natural fate of all OCE PVE servers, it was the exact same with remulos, and it was very obvious this would happen again. I donāt really have much sympathy for people who choose to invest time and resources into servers which WILL die.
I rolled with a friend that wanted to play with no PvP interruptions. While I understand people wanting to roll on PvP servers I feel they are a self fulfilling prophecy, People āknowā that PvP servers will have more players so they roll on a PvP server even if they donāt want to PvP thus creating a server with more players, thus fulfilling the PvP server prophecy of player count. Anecdotally proven by people on these servers saying as much.
I think Shadowstrike is having the same problems as Pennance just not as fast because it had a higher starting base for population.
This is one of the big reasons I think Warmode like is the correct solution, Allow everyone to play on the same server for PvE content and if you want to WPvP turn it on. Or even make it a toggle at creation but you can still join the same guilds and do instanced content together but PvP server side gets no additional benefits.
This is also known as WoW with a feature removed.
People roll primarily on PvP servers so they can get the fully featured version of the game, itās why itās more popular than PvE servers, always has been and always will.
The problem pennance is facing is that people are migrating to the āmainā most active server in the region, which is Shadowstrike.
Obviously, itās not possible for Shadowstrike to have this problem. Why would OCE players migrate away from the largest server in the OCE region? It doesnāt make sense.
warmode is fine in content that is designed for everything to be phased/instance. Classic is not that game, a lot of things will break.
Its exactly the rep grinds and professions that are killing me. Iām more than happy to pay, even.
I re-rolled ājust in caseā and its so much more fun, stocked AH, groups everywhere, etc.
But getting blacksmithing back to 300 and doing rep grinds is so annoying. Iād still pay for the transfer to get my character over to WG, even after Iāve gotten back to 250 BS and silverwing almost all the way up to exalted.
Not to mention all the loot I need to try and get back, still missing so much stuff.
With phase four launched a lot of life is present in Penance, the major guilds are all still recruiting and trying to muster decent rosters but the population doesnāt support it. We desperately need Blizzard to assist in transfers to Wild Growth to keep our PvE SoD experience going into future phases. This server will not survive another content drought (as short as it was) and a lot of us are so invested in our characters are definitely not willing to re-roll, thatās months of game play wasted.
