I’m baffled that this far into the game I still just can’t make a basic looking shaman transmog. An iconic shaman would basically be wearing a fur draped around him, then having furs on the shoulders and a wolf’s head. Unfortunately I can’t find this transmog available without a bunch of ridiculous ridiculous colors/crystals/particle effects/spikes.
There have been a couple sets that start with the right idean then load it up with a bunch of nonsense.
Kork’kron Dark Shaman’s gear - I really like the design for the legs on this one… given that we can’t have true cloaks/robes in this game this set does a pretty good job of depitcing a draped fur. Unfortunately, the shoulder spikes are enormous and ridiculous regardless, and the head spikes and yellow glow kind of ruin the wolf’s head. I understand this set needing to look “evil” so I’m not saying this needs to be “the” generic shaman set but it’s hard to pull too much from this one.
Spiritwalker’s Regalia - Just throwing on way too much here. Don’t need gigantic skulls on the shoulders or bones sticking into my hood. And don’t need crystals strapped on everywhere, least of all on my neck.
Prideful Gladiator’s - Taking a pretty solid base for what could be an iconic Orc shaman set, we’ve decided to add ridiclous purple or green glows to everything, and weave metal shrapnel into it?
The early sets (T0,1,2) are a little better but still gaudy and now dated. There are some really cool over the top shaman sets. There are a couple generations of really nice troll themed sets. And if you want to look like an elemental infused avatar then there’s no shortage. But if you’re trying to bring the character down to earth a little bit and go for something more muted there are slim pickings. I also don’t think this is an exclusively shaman problem as I’ve had similar struggles finding low key gear for other classes also.
