Can we get pet specs and talent trees back?

So they are revamping talent trees so me thinks it would be a good idea to add pet talent trees back and add back the ability to have pets swap specs?

Not really down for the trees but I agree they should be able to choose their specs again

Yes please! Lol

My thoughts exactly!!! It feels like they eliminated 1/3 of the playable pets with their current system. I don’t think that I know anyone the uses tenacity pets other than spirit beasts.

Yes, they really need to bring back pet specs. Removing them after Legion was a huge mistake.

Uh… how would I slow fall without my feathermane?

Wotlkc is waiting for you and all that jazz.

Except that it was useless in Legion. I don’t recall a single pet that suddenly became usable from being able to change specs. Certain pets were superior and were already the spec they needed to be to begin with from what I remember. Could just be for Beast Mastery though with the exotic abilities to contend with along with the pet family abilities.

Goblin Glider tinker or an equivalent that non-Engineers can use. Or you could just hit Disengage just before hitting the ground (not slow fall but it does allow you to drop without killing yourself).

Being able to select your pets spec meant any pet was capable of filling any role.
So, if you were partial to cats, but needed a Tank, you could spec your pet into the Tenacity class and have your cat and Tank it too.
Slow fall? Whispers of Rai’Vosh works great, although of short duration.
Makes for some incredible disengages too.

Except Cats didn’t have have a shell shield ability so they wouldn’t be near as effective of a tank as a Turtle or Beetle.

This example would be like saying today that you could tank with any Ferocity pet. While it would be marginally true due to the leech being effective for tanking, no other Ferocity pet is going to beat out a Scalehide for tanking for non-BM (Gorillas can come close as they have a defensive ability as well).

What I’m saying is right now, most, if not all Ferocity pets, can and do tank better than Tenacity pets.
Then, in Legion?, when the pet specced into Tenacity it gained Blood of the Rhino, Last Stand, Great Stamina, Charge, and Thunder-Stomp.
And my Boar had Bristle, another on-demand 12 sec damage reduction.
A cat, porcupine, raven, with all the above, if not AS effective, would be near enough for run of the mill tanking tasks, and better than anything available right now.

I AM saying that. It’s ridiculous.

survival originally used tenacity in legion for the extra pet ability to proc mb charges, but yeah
you generally only used the same type as you used now, it was just more convenient if you just wanted to collect pets for their utility (moth purge, crane brez, etc)

Hunter pet specs need to come back, that’s just a fact.

They were introduced precisely because having pets locked to certain specs meant hunters weren’t going for their favorite pet based on style, but solely on stats.

Then some idiot on the dev team decided we should revert back to that with the start of BFA. Now, speaking personally here, all the mechanical pets I tamed for my hunter just sit in the stable, collecting dust, because they’re all locked to cunning spec, by far the worst of the three specs.

And some of these pets take hours to track down and tame them so it’s not just stupid but a downright shame that Blizzard did this to begin with, it’s a mistake they need to fix immediately if not sooner.

I’m not so sure about pet talent trees, as that could present some balancing issues, and I’d really rather they focus all attention into the class trees.
However, I would definitely like it if we could choose our pet’s spec!
Running M+, you’re basically locked into using a Ferocity pet for Primal Rage, and for the bonus healing from the 10% leech. Which leaves so many cool pets that we’ve collected to just sit in our stables!
I’d love to have a Ferocity bone raptor, or a Ferocity giraffe, that would be lovely!

Most wouldn’t turn down the choice of respec-ing pets over RP realism of a cat not being as tanky as a turtle but it wouldn’t matter that much in most content but but but big BUT a turtle becomes tankier as a ferocity pet hahaha leech and shell ability haha survival hunter can use Beetles Turtles Boars and Mechanical and not just the Scalehide. Even none tanky family abilities would become better with leech…id go as far as give all specs 10% leech and give ferocity something new like “Offensive Defense” and they improve players’ armor or something then people would pick the spec they need unless it turned out that damage reduction was better then 5% max hp or 8% movement speed then it would remain the top-spec regardless if they allowed switching but even if they did make the change they still need alow pet respec-ing.

They need this and a small revamp to the specs to give them all 10% leech and just give ferocity a defensive ability that raises the armor or dodge chance of the player because the pet’s teeth and claws make it harder to approach the player because there so vicious rawr.
