Does a relationship NEED to be written well? Is it not enough that they are gay and happy? LGBT can have some trashy terrible romances too. Straight™ people get like 50 Hallmark Christmas movies every year, I just want one to watch 900000 times.
I haven’t read the entire thread or his responses but not everyone reads the books, so for people who just play the game or are oblivious to the subtle stuff it would come off as left field
Why do we need sexual orientation in a game about killing dragons, demons, and various other baddies? Nobody cares, this constant having to parade around who you like to do the nasty with is why most people find the few who advocate for this insufferable. If you want to RP that all the characters are gay then go ahead no one is stopping you. Literally nothing in the lore focuses on who the various characters in the game like to sleep with so nothing is stopping you from pretending that everyone is gay.
Younselectively edited. I specifically mentioned in-game build up.
To be fair, I don’t like the trashy straight romance either. I, speaking personally, prefer my character development to have depth. But that’s more of a personal preference. Shallow characters just don’t do it for me.
Fair is fair, for lack of a better phrase. We’ve had straight romance come out of world ending conflict so it makes sense that same sex relationships come out (no pun intended) of world ending conflict as well. I just don’t trust Blizzard’s track record on romantic entanglements, in-game or otherwise.
I quoted your post directly. Where you said nothing about explicitly in game. Either way it doesn’t matter. People who don’t access parts of the story are…going to miss parts of the story? It’s on them if they miss the build up.
I am just saying there is room for both. When you say “I don’t mind LGBT so long as it is done well!” it may sound reasonable, but does come across as homophobic. Just wanted to point that out.
points to the circus act that is Malfurion and Tyrande
Honestly I’m so done with this hot take “there needs to be a good reason they’re gay” like no there does not. We can have trashy characters just like straight people do.
